Such a riveting game... October 6, 2008 Ok, let's stop joking about this game now. We all know it is a pitiful excuse for a virtual pet game.
You can only appreciate this game if you are less than 5 years old. But it is a children's game after all.
At the start of the game, you must choose to be either a girl or a boy. A fourth year student, who finally gets a chance to own a puppy, thanks to his/hers parents. There are 18 breeds to choose from, doesn't really matter what you pick though, they are the same dog, just wrapped in different wrapping paper.
No problems so far, as a matter of fact, I was actually looking forward to purchase my puppy. However, it only went downhill from there.
The puppies are cute, I must emit, but that alone is not going to change my rating anytime soon.
The graphics for this game is pleasing for the eyes but I have seen better graphics in many other GBA games. In my opinion, I thought the graphics suited the game. But graphics alone is not going to hide its serious lack of game play.
The sound wasn't that bad either. The puppies sound like real dogs. This is a good sign. If only the music wasn't so repetitive, I probably might consider turning my DS off mute.
You can train your puppy how to do tricks, obey your commands and you can even pet it. Oh yeah and clean up its little presents it leaves around the house. But that's about it. I `m not complaining or anything, I like that in a virtual pet game but it's just too... quick and you don't keep the puppy for long. I think you keep it for at least 3 weeks.
And that came to the main problem with this game, the length. Such a short game, and you don't get anything out of it after you complete the game, apart from the friends forever mode. You can't even walk your puppy in `friends forever' mode nor the first week playing. Secondly, the amount of time you spend with the dog is limited. Why? Because you have to go to school, eat your breakfast and your dinner, go to bed and so on. The child's parents are so frustrating; if you ever thought of being a child in such a game is fun, think again! You can hardly do anything without your parents consent. No freedom at all!
Predictable and boring cut scenes you have to go though when you dine and go to school. If they say bon appétit one more time. It's unnecessary. You can't even skip the cut scenes! It takes up game play and adds to the boredom. It's so repetitive.
I remember playing this game for about 2 hours and then it abruptly stopped. I finished it without any warning. I thought to myself "that was it?" "I spent 19.99 for this."
And you know the funny thing was? I was questioned by the man behind the counter. He also told me directly that it was returned by everyone who bought it. It was that bad.
Don't waste your money on this, unless your child is pleased with pretty colours and cute puppies that bark, or any game for that matter that has no game play, just pointless drivel.
Take my advice and buy nintendogs instead. No parents, no school, no children, no time wasted and no parents! You have been warned.
The worst for boys February 24, 2007 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I thought I was going to like this game but the same thing happens every day. You wake up, you find garbage everywhere, youhave no time to do anything and then your mum calls you for breakfast, you give food to the dog, school, walk, dinner, sleep. It takes an awful lot of time just for the people to talk and they also say the same thing every time. I would never recommend it to anyone. Plus it is not long (the whole game).

Dogz is amazing! The graphics are immense and the puppies are soooooo cute! The gameplay is great and the storyline is very clever. But I have given it 4 stars because the friends' forever mode is disappointing. Sure you get everything but you can't go for walks and there is no time at all so you never do anything. You can teach you puppy new tricks but it is boring. Friends' forever mode is very disappointing. But anyway the game is brill. I completed it in a week and then it got kinda boring but this game is a must for everyone who likes animals 6+.
