Fifa 2004 August 13, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've played several versions of Fifa and although this has some great new features (mainly the career mode), there are too many flaws to make me feel it is worth upgrading from 2003. The gameplay is slower, and while this gives you a little more time to get your head around some of the new controls, you have to feel this will reduce the playability in the future. However my main gripe does not concern the controls or speed, the game cube version seems to have an annoying habit of pausing for a split second during a match which appears to get worse the longer you play. There is also an infuriating tendency to crash completely during career mode. Both of these can contribute to the use of some very colourful language. The graphics are almost identical to 2003, and the audio could even be the same recording (this also has the same characteristics as 2003, shouting 'what a great pass' as you loose the ball). The gameplay is not up to the level of previous versions, if only because of the annoying pausing in game. Is it worth buying? MMmm I'm not to sure.
Fifa 2004 (player's choice) July 22, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Fifa 2004 responds to the increasing competition from other football games by the many new features such as practice mode, career mode(be your own manager) and other improvements from previous games. I was pleased to see the improved camera angles during gameplay and the improved method of taking free kicks. My only concern is the space it takes up on your memory card (over 34 blocks) . However, being a player's choice game, its a bargain and value for money.
