Product Description
Brand New American GameCube game.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Fox McCloud is back, but he's left the on-the-rails shoot-'em-up larks of his previous two games behind--this all-new Star Fox adventure sees the super furry animal in a very Zelda-esque bid to save Dinosaur Planet.

Star Fox Adventures is the first, and sadly last, GameCube game from Nintendo stalwarts Rare, who previously created such N64 classics as GoldenEye 007 and Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's their last game for the GameCube because Nintendo have recently sold their shares in the company to Microsoft, which has caused an unholy stink from fans around the world and created even more anticipation for this game.

Although the control system is very similar to The Legend of Zelda's, Star Fox Adventures is no simple clone. It's your job as the mercenary mammal to find all the spellstones that will rejoin the splintered planet and defeat the evil General Scales. This entails much exploring of ancient temples and completing of sub-quests to help everything from Yorkshire-accented woolly mammoths to pterodactyls who've lost their babies.

The game may lack the epic scale and endless invention of Zelda but it has plenty of new ideas of its own, including a fully interactive dinosaur sidekick, some cool shoot-'em-up sections in Fox's spaceship, and lots of ways to upgrade your magical staff. To add some icing to the cake the graphics are absolutely amazing, particularly the super-realistic fur effects. So don't feel down that Rare are leaving, just enjoy their parting shot and let it whet your appetite for the new Zelda game coming from Nintendo in 2003. --David Jenkins

5 out of 5 stars Amazing from Rare   July 30, 2008
I first bought this game, wanting to have a quick fix for any other games that i might get in the future for gamecube - because i don't have a wii, only a 360, i wanted to be able to play my older games again, and buy more.

Moving on now, when i first played the game, i thought it was absolutely amazing. Everything in the game works, and to a high standards. The thing that will really suprise you is the groundbreaking graphics and even the furr effects. Although it was made in 2002, it is good enough to be imported on the 360, and still hold its own, which is great.

The gameplay is quite fantastic aswell. Once you start playing, it is hard to stop. The game makes a challenge, without it being way too difficult. A gamer like me, not very experienced would find this title perfect. The combat is good, you get spells and start out with a rod. The game does kind of remind me of Zelda Ocarina of Time, the way StarFox picks up weapons and items.

It seems like a long game aswell, i have played 3 and a half hours, and only completed 17% of it. The Arwing is still in the game, as well as peppy, slippy, that commando guy and a few new characters aswell.

If you are looking for a great adventure/exploration game, with awesome graphics for its time and will keep you occupied for quite a long time, then pick this up. Fans of Mario sunshine, or Zelda will find this game fascinating. The only bad thing is, Falco's been totally wiped out of the game, but is around in the other StarFox Assault.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Gamecube Titles (also on Wii)   March 12, 2008
Really not knowing what to expect I am so impressed by this game. The graphics for 2002 are impressive, even by today's Wii standards. The gameplay is fantastic but what strikes me me most overall is how this game has fed into the development of Twilight Princess. I know that Rare became a Nintendo development house before being sold to Microsoft and Miyamoto was the executive producer on this. The Rare engine must have been used further. There are a number of touches that people will recognise in Twilight Princess.
Only downside is that the voice acting is pretty dismal but if you ignore it doesn't spoil the overall enjoyment. There is real competition in my house between my 10 and 12 year old on this.....

2 out of 5 stars A sad decline in standards for Rare.   August 30, 2006

Star Fox Adventures was an upsetting game to play. It was upsetting because visually, it shows all the gloss Rare are known for.

However, once you start to play the game you realise all is not well. The majority of 'fights' in the game can be won without even looking at the screen (while hamering one button)! The gameplay is stodgy and lacks any idea of fun and generally feels workmanlike. It is like Zelda without any depth or challenge.

It's hard to believe this was made by the same company who produced Donkey Kong 64, an all together far superior (though older) platformer.

5 out of 5 stars Actually the BEST GAME IN THE WORLD!!   March 20, 2006

Ok, maybe not the best game, but it's well up there. Starfox is full of character, the other characters he meets are fantastic, and its just a brilliant game that doesn't deserve the flak its getting here.

Those who mourned the end of Super Mario Sunshine are well advised to get this game. Its short, but fantastic the whole way.

An absolute joy to play. I love starfox.

5 out of 5 stars Underrated Game   January 4, 2006

Im saddened by all the negative reviews this game has been receiving. I found the game an enjoyable experience with enviroments beautifully rendered. There is good variation in the gameplay, new skills to be learnt etc. There is also a nice return of starfox space battles near the end. Overall a fun experience not to be missed by any gamecube owner-totally underrated
