I think personly this game is way to violent for our children and should be destroyed.

5 out of 5 stars Call Of Duty - One of the best!   March 1, 2006

I actually bought the Call of Duty Deluxe Edition . which also includes the United Offensive Expansion Pack! This game is superb! I have only just bought it, however I wished I had bought it sooner as the game is so much better compared to the Medal of Honor series which I originally only owned. The game consists of 3 campaigns: The American Campaign, The British Campaign and The Russian Campaign and all have a pospective outlook on World War 2. The American and British Campaigns involve the D-Day landings on Normandy and both are based on being dropped behind enemy lines before the landings and securing key positions i.e. bridges, towns etc. Whereas the Russian Campaign starts off with you being a Russian peasent being forced to fight by Stalin himself. The campaign starts off by taking the city of stalingrad (now Moscow I think as Red Square gets mentioned) and then moves onto the invasion/liberation of Warsaw in Poland.
The Graphics are top notch on this game, the storylines are superb and you really feal as if you are in the action as the germans seem to like shooting at you more then your computer- generated army mates!
This game is a must have, however buy it from dvd.co.uk as you get the expansion which has loads more missions to keep you going for a long time!
I give this game 9/10

Where do I begin. For those of you who were hooked on the original Medal of Honour, this is just as good in every way. Althought there is more of an arcade feel to to game compared to EA's offering, once a skirmish begins you feel as though you are actually there pulling the trigger yourself.

This is by far one of the best games I have ever had the honour of purchasing when there are increasingly more rubbish wannabes available on the market.

I only got into fps earlier this year. I purchased this as it had the best reviews from others.
I am grateful to those who spend the time to write reviews.

4 out of 5 stars Good but seen it all before   February 5, 2006

Okey first off as FPS go this is one of the better ones. No doubt about that. Though not totally accurate historically, it does give you a feel of what it was like to be fighting in WW2. For those of you who like watching WW2 films and tv series then a number of the missions will seem familiar and some of the character names familiar. Particularly if you have seen Band of Brothers.

The graphics are good, the game is fun to play but it has some flaws which means it can never be a 5 out of 5.

First of all, this game is no different than Half Life, or any other good FPS from the last 10 years accept the location has changed and the graphics have improved. But considering games from circa 2001 like Operation Flashpoint and Deus Ex were doing non-linear levels to their games (and in the case of OFP completely non-linear) it is dissapointing that COD couldn't be like them.

Also the AI is..... well poor. Your team mates at times are idiots. They fail to cover you at the most crucial times. A lot of the time you get the feeling you are playing on your own rather than in a squad.

Another thing is that considering you play American, Russian and British soldiers, would it have been that hard to put some German missions in, just to see what it was like from their perspective?
But of course this is Hollywood FPS, and you only play the good guys!

From what I hear the on-line multiplayer part of the game is excellent and has a big fan base. As I don't play on line I can't comment on this.

If you are looking for a "let's slaughter germans" type war game which involves a little bit of thinking (only a little mind) then this is a lot of fun and thoroughly recommended. If you are looking for a realistic war game (one in which your tactics really mean the difference between life and death) then you'll have to stick to Operation Flashpopint until the second version comes out late in 2006.

If you can look past the flaws then this is a lot of fun, if you can't look past the flaws it's still a lot of fun, you'll just end up shaking your head at certain things from time to time.
