Stunning November 20, 2008 I love this game. The grahics are stunning and gameplay is smooth. The only problem I have is that is seems to stop playing after a while on my computer. Not sure whether special updates or patches are needed.
Bah, mediocre. November 10, 2008 Well, what can one say. The game isn't bad, it just lacks most things that make these types of games good. Explained very simple: This is just basic stuff, where you click on a guy, tell him to do something, and watch the event unfold. Not very entertaining, and not the best time spent if you ask me. In addition you click and watch like this, to abysmal music. No, rent a movie instead, or get Civilization 4. That is a good game, and in the same genre!
The Best Building Game... Ever! October 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Game is one of the best Pc Games I have ever played. It is just the right level of difficulty. In this game you have to build up an empire wihile facing problems through nissions. Yhis game never gets boring.

Nice but Easy July 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not a game for Settlers fans, its been dumbed down a good measure.
I bought it for my girlfriend, but she does not play a lot of PC games so I thought it would be OK for her. Its certainly easy enough. She did enjoy it to a point but got bored of it.
I will admit its fun enough to play for a while, but the total absence of depth will leave you not bothering to return. Can highly recommend for young children, or people very new to gaming. But to anyone else I would suggest your not get your monies worth.
Fun, Simple and Addictive January 21, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A lot of people have said that this game is too easy, which at times it can be. It isn't a game for your hard core military strategists, but it is easy to pick up and fun to play.
Settlers Rise of an Empire requires you to build a thriving settlement, with everything your settlers could possibly need. These things range from butchers to sheep farms. You have to find resources to convert into goods that can be used by your citizens to enable your town to grow further and open up more opportunities to build new buildings. The campaign is based around you building an empire and completing quests in different settings. These different settings cover four different climates such as the snowy north or hot south. These different climates offer different challenges and actually affect the way you have to manage your settlement.
The thing that I really enjoy about this game is watching your town grow and watching the settlers go about their everyday lives. The military side is limited, with only two soldier units and three siege units available. But this isn't the point of the game, founding a busy, bustling town is.
The graphics are very good indeed and building your perfect town will keep you occupied for hours. Be warned however, this game is highly addictive and will stop you having a life for quite a while!
