4 out of 5 stars What a good game!!   November 6, 2008
This game has kept me entertained for ages. I enjoy all of the realistic features on it for example: Indicators and Mirrors. It's worth spending the money on this game. The publisher Excalibur is really high quality. I've bought lots of games from them now and they are so amazing!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Good but...   November 1, 2008

POSITIVE SIDE: It's a very good game and definatly teaches you the highway code. There is a points system and it takes away point for things like running red lights or not indicating but gives you points like a mile of bus driving with no offence and passengers happy for amileand indicating properly and green light moving etc, etc.
NEGATIVE SIDE: When it has a indicator on or it has a lot of traffic in the screen it slows down to load up the pictures and goes frame by frame stopping in between the frames. It also turns off at any time because ithas a n error, it doesn't give you a warning, tell you it'sgoingto reboot the system thewhole game justs turns off which can beannoying at times. Only has third person view and does sometimes get very boring onnce you have completed the game. And just one last thing you have abrake meter and if you overbrake your passengers scream and you get points taken away whilst the other buses one moment there moving and nextthere not and they and the traffic accelartate unatrully fast and I sometimes struggle to get through green lights if I'm at the front of the trafficand it deducts points for going through amber lights and calls itobstructing traffic and causing conjestion. Hope you found it helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Bring on Bus Driver 2 =)   October 5, 2008
I decided to write this review as I've seen a lot of people flame this game.

Anyways, first things first - this game is not to be confused with a simulator, it says nothing about being a simulator in its description or even on the website for that matter: "Bus Driver is a unique driving game for Windows".

Now after playing this game for a while now, I have become VERY addicted to it, I was sceptical at first because of what I had read from other reviews but this game is actually purely brilliant - If you are a fan of Buses and Driving games then this is for you. I have played my fair amount of driving games in the past, on Consoles and PC's - such as the Grand Theft Auto Series and the Driver series - [which is my personal favourite driving series on any System] and not one of those games has had Double Decker Bus on which you can use.. not on any of the 3D ones anyway.. which is rather shocking really. This is a driving game, so why exactly would you need "tycoon elements" on such a game? If that is your sort of thing then go buy Transport Tycoon or something =)

Anyways, the good points - well I'll start with the Graphics, they are amazing and comparable to the likes of a game like Toca Race Driver 3. There are 30 routes in total and a fairly wide variety of different Buses to use, ranging from single deckers, to double deckers, to prison buses and school buses, but no mini buses surprisingly, you start off either in a Bus Station or an airport and make your way to the last stop. The handling is actually very realistic and the closest I have ever came to driving a real Bus.. it took me time to get used to the handling and the braking especially, [down hills in particular!] and different weather effects which affect this. It teaches you the rules of the road, such as indicating when changing lanes and stopping at traffic lights etc. also, things such as braking too hard and crashing also do not go un-noticed and will make your passengers panic! The sound effects are excellent and very realistic. This all adds up to make a truely fun driving game.

On the other hand, there are a few things which I feel could be improved - although this game was not created to be a simulator, I would appreciate an in-vehicle view, mainly because I am used to driving/racing that way on games, however the view from the outside does make the experience slightly more challenging, especially when using the double decker bus because it blocks your view at times and makes you think twice before doing things. The ai system, although smart - it would be nice to have the occasional car which will not let you pull out etc and other buses you pass do not seem to pull over at bus stops. I managed to complete this game in 2 days =/ and driving the same routes continuously can get quite boring after a while, so I think a 'Take a Ride' or 'Free Roam' mode would keep me interested, and also having said that - out of the 30 routes, there are only 2 which enable you to drive the double decker. =/

My final words - I have played both Bus Driver and the GSP Bus Simulator 2008 and there is a big difference both in realism and enjoyment - the handling on GSP Bus Simulator is terrible and not realistic at all, I noticed this when I pulled over at the first bus stop, all I had to do was tap the directional button once and the steering seemed very sensitive and drove me straight into the bus stop, whereas on Bus Driver, the handling is very different and more comparable to the likes of a game like Gran Turismo 4, not only that, but the game did not run smoothly at all on my PC [which is not bad at all just for the record] even on normal settings.. unlike the very smooth gameplay which Bus Driver offered.. and my Computer Specifications are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe 2.40GHz,
2048MB DDR2 RAM @ 800MHz,
Western Digital 74GB Hard Drive @ 10,000RPM,
Nvidia 7900GS 512MB - 1500MHz.

I was very disappointed with GSP Bus Simulator and so I would recommend to anyone who wants a true Bus Driving experience to purchase Bus Driver instead.

4 out of 5 stars Must Play!!   September 8, 2008

I have been a coach driver and this is very realistic. I have played the demo of Bus Simulator 2008 and I find the graphics and handling unrealistic, whereas Bus Driver is easy to use and the demo gave me hours of fun. I have now decide to purchase Bus Driver in its entirety.

Have Fun!!

4 out of 5 stars Fun whilst it lasted   August 18, 2008
Bus Driver (PC CD)

Bus driver offers a fun experience behind the wheel of a variety of different buses including London style double-decker buses, prison buses and classic American school buses. The buses are easy to operate but consequently lack some realism. There are around 30 missions some short, some longer however there is no 'free roam' mode therefore once the missions are complete driving the same routes may become a little tedious.
Overall, I would reccomend this game especially for the younger market. If you want a more realistic experience I would reccomend GSP's Bus simulator; also available from amazon.co.uk.
