Worst Game EVER!!! September 11, 2008 This is one of the worst games i have ever played, in quite some time. i have a quad core PC with a Nvidia 8800GTX, and the gameplay was atrocious. very jittery, no control over the bus, no directions in the game, very annoying navigating the menu's and terrible game play. if you want to buy this, dont, buy Bus Driver insted. much much better.

I have tried other simulations: Tricycle Simulator, Bicycle with Adjustable Stabiliser Simulator - advancing eventually to Unaided Bicycle Simulator - but Bus Simulator really hits the spot.
First of all, it is best to leave your toilet unflushed for a week with the bathroom door open. This adds to the atmosphere perfectly, as if you are in a real city bus!
You can select difficulty levels from novice to professional driver. Be prepared though, in professional mode you will be taking on the virtual bus route, the burger fries and coke balancing task, mobile phone calls to the bookies and partaking in some very constructive conversation with your Kappa cladded girlfriend as she remains constantly by your side throughout the entire route.
Functionality has also been thoroughly researched. The heating only works in summer and the air conditioning in winter...just like real life!
There is also the option of passenger mode, where you can:
Sit innocently by a choice of window seats and receive half a brick through the bus window before implanting itself in your skull. The shattering glass sound files are spot-on. When a later voice shouted 'Gerrit up ye!' I could have really sworn that the offending gentleman was right next to me.
Sit by an aisle seat and receive a fatal or non-fatal stabbing (optional) by someone who did not like the way you glimpsed at them as they boarded the bus. As you lie on the bus floor bleeding to death, you will be amazed by the high resolution lino' floor textures and take a moment to see the finer details, such as the masses of chewing gum and nasal residue pressed firmly under the seats.
There's also 'three-bus-formation-mode' where you and your fellow drivers can eventually decide to turn up at a bus stop together to pick-up a handfull of passengers because the majority of the other waiting passengers gave up the will to live - a long time ago.
The mirrors work too! You can actually see the frantic mother, her shopping and her children being dragged whilst she is running for the bus-stop that you have just that second pulled away from - causing other traffic to brake and swerve - and she is trying so desperately to get your attention to stop. But you can't stop. Your girlfriend needs to get her next door neighbour's DVD player to Cash Converters quick because she's low on phone credit and scratch-cards.
I can't wait for Bus Simulator 2 to come out. I hear that there are extra night-shift options with additional bonus A&E routes.
I'll use this every day until my usb steering wheel doesn't work anymore. I'll probably buy train simulator then.
It is so real...a must for anyone who remembers why they bought a car.
Fair - shows promise but could do better May 25, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Having bought the game, it was not as bad as people had made out but.... it could be so much better. I must agree that the steering is bad, v/bad, but the game is built on good foundations and I'm sure with a little tweaking it can really go places (no pun intended!). In fact if you could combine the movement of bus driver with the development possibilities of this game, I'm sure it would be hard to beat.
Nice Try But No Cigar May 24, 2008 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Now before anyone says, i am not a bis freak, i just enjoy simulations, and own just about every simulator game going, be it: trains, planes, ships or in this case a Bus Simulator.
Ill agree with most comments on here about game-play, it is kinda weak, i also own bus driver which i thought was kinda cool, and thought i would get this game, but there are a few problems with it, let me list them:
1) the graphics are OK, but even on a top end machine like mine (Intel Pentium 4 3.4gig, 2gig RAM 256mb nVidia Graphics) it does jump and skip about.
2) the Game Play is just poor, the steering is utterly unrealistic even at the best of times, to sharp and abrupt.
3) Continuing on from the game play, you appear to be crashing into objects all the time regardless if you hit them or not (a prime example is going past a tree, and people scream and the bus stops)
4) another problem is that there are no directions to the next stop (which is annoying) so you find yourself (if you can put up with the game-play that is) driving round for ages, and guessing the stops.
Personally, if your a simulation freak like i am, i suggest you get Bus Driver, and not bus simulator, its weak, jumpy, skippy even with the patch downloads from the website it's still rank.
Hope this info helps someone make an informed choice about the game they buy :)
