4 out of 5 stars Difficult to attach   August 15, 2008

First, I have to acknowledge that they offer good protection once properly on. They're made from some kind of stiff but flexible layered plastic and silicone that even before attaching you can feel the durability. The top filter is anti-glare and actually makes the screen look crisper and brighter, and the bottom filter doesn't seem to pick up scratches, although it lacks the antiglare layer of the top as that would impede touch sensitivity.

The problem is they are extremely hard to attach cleanly even on a new DS. Even in an apparently dust-free environment there are particles whizzing around, and I can guarantee that between removing backing and placing the filter, at least one dust particle will appear either on the sticky strip or the DS screen, and they show up terribly.

Removing the dust is actually easy - as the instructions show, you re-lift the filter and use sellotape to pad the dust off, which somehow leaves no residue no matter how many times you do it. The difficult part is lifting the filters back up. I found myself scrabbling at the edge with my nails, which in turn creates more problems because now the corners are all finger-greased up, which can be sellotaped off again but it's a continuous circle. The other problem is that while the top screen is easy to align the filter to because it is flush with the lid of the ds, the touchscreen filter is hard because the screen is recessed with a lip. This also makes the re-lifting process harder still. On the plus side, air bubbles are easy to remove by just ferreting them across the screen and out the edge with the stylus.

However in fairness I can not give them only 3 stars, because once you have managed to attach them without trapped dust, which is ultimately your own mistake, they do exactly what theyre supposed to very well. So I give them 4.

3 out of 5 stars Difficult installation   July 10, 2008

I've bought a few just incase I mess up or the protector get's scratched easily. To be honest installation on the top screen is really easy with the tab to peel off the plastic sheet behind the protector, but with the bottom screen there isn't a tab to peel off it is more difficult to remove the backing sheet so it is hard to avoid turning it around on the adhesive side without getting dust on that side which turns into air bubbles when you install it on the screen.

Another problem is the deepness of the bottom screen which makes aligning a bit more difficult.
I've also found the bottom screen is very prone to scratches but at least it's not scratching the actual screen itself!

1 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money   June 13, 2008

I cant believe this has been given a license by Nintendo.
As soon as i took the covers to the sticky side off they instantly got specs of dust all over them.
Applying them is a right pain as well with all the air bubbles you get from the last side you're putting down.
The end result for me was a screen that looked worse off than before. Sure it may have been "protected" but who wants to play on a dull and slightly dusty screen?
It's far easier and better to just keep the screen clean which I've been doing with screen wipes for a while anyway.
The only good to come of this was the bonus cleaning cloth that works pretty well and isn't liquid based like what I've been previously using.

5 out of 5 stars The best your DS Lite can get   June 3, 2008
These are fantastic, the best screen protectors one can get for their DS Lite.

The first time i ever bought a screen protector package was from Game for my original DS. They were absolutely awful, the touch screen protector was tough plastic so you had to press down quite hard with the stylus (surely this is worse than leaving the touch screen bare?!). I threw them away the day after i got them, they were naff. Thus this caused me to be a little hesitant on buying another pack of screen protectors for my new gold Zelda DS Lite (which cost me near 200 - therefore i want to keep it in pristine condition). Well i read the reviews on here and gave it a shot.

They are so unbelievably easy to put on, i had no problems whatsoever and any air bubbles (which there were only a few) were easy to get rid of using the stylus. I can't even notice them on the screen, they are exactly the right size and completely clear so as not to distort or discolour the images on the screens. The cloth however isn't so fantastic, it seemed to spread around some dust particles on the screen rather than take them all off. But i have a lint-free cloth (i think that is what they're called) that i use for cleaning console/laptop/tv screens, which worked much much better.

Other than that, definitely get these for your DS Lite, it is obvious by their supreme quality and ease of fixing them to the screens that the company has put every thought and effort into making these. Brilliant.

***If you own games that require a lot of use of the stylus (like Elite Beat Agents), YOU WILL NEED THESE. Such games, while they may be fantastic, will really scratch your touch screen!!!***

1 out of 5 stars Did I buy the same thing as you people?   February 7, 2008

These protective filters are terrible. My DS is now covered in air bubbles which I tried to get out with 'diligent use of the stylus' as recommended by a previous reviewer only to find I scratched the surface of the filter quite badly. So now my brand new DS is covered in air bubbles AND scratches. Hmmm. There's no point in something being brand-new if you can't enjoy it's shininess... These are going straight in the bin and I will just take extra care to not scratch my new toy!

NB my packet was entirely in Japanese/Chinese. Perhaps with English instructions I may have figured out how to avoid bubbles.
