4 out of 5 stars Great fun!   December 12, 2007

I loved this game, the graphics to me are a bit funky but they're not bad. I love how you get the baby characters and that they give you a different power depending on which baby it is you're carrying. At the moment I'm stuck in world 2, which is a bit embarassing but it is quite hard! I don't think I'd be whizzing through it like I did with New Super Mario Bros... Still a good game to have in your collection though!

3 out of 5 stars As with the first, starts off great, then descends into bore   October 18, 2007

I liked this game to begin with. The graphics are simply gorgeous and shows off what the DS is capable of perfectly. The gameplay is, to begin with, easy and imaginative. But it it quickly gives way to tedium by about the third level.

The problem is that it doesn't really change much and you end up doing more or less the same damn thing in every level. There became less and less need for me to go back to the game. I like new things to constantly crop up and develop through the course of a video game, even in a simple kid's game such as this.

Much like the original Yoshi's Island, that I played on my GBA, this game starts off great with loads of color and cuteness, but fails to keep it all interesting.

I think this game is AWSOME! sometimes though it is a bit hard. I thought it look colourful and fun so i got it for christmas! i was really right! it's a really good game and i would probably recomend it to 10-11+ 'cause it is quite hard, i even find it hard but then again i'm not very good at platform games! (but i still enjoy them!)

4 out of 5 stars Eggscellent   June 20, 2007

Yoshi's Island on the Super NES all those years ago was a challenging but addictive game that was utterly fantastic. Yoshi's Island DS is very similar in terms of levels bur with new features, new characters and the advantage of dual screens.

This game doesn't make use of the stylus and you find you can get through the first few levels with ease. Egg-throwing is the same as it was before, the stars = seconds and red coins and flowers are all still here, but you also have the option of changing the baby- to Peach, who can help Yoshi float on air currents, or Donkey Kong, who can climb vines and ropes. Wario and Bowser also appear- the former has a magnet that can clear metal blocks for you, the latter can spit flames to melt ice.

To be honest, I found that you can play the majority of the game with Mario, with the others needed sparingly.

Good game play is appreciated and this game has it in abundance, but the later levels can be very frustrating. The difficulty seems to spike sharply in the final few levels of the game, which can lead to immense annoyance.

That said, the game is a fun remake of an old classic which I'm sure will entertain for many eggs to come!

4 out of 5 stars Tis Yoshi, Yoshi baby's back   February 6, 2007

Being a fan of the first Yoshi's island, which I have had the pleasure of playing on the snes and the gba, I practically bought a ds just to play this. Of course, there are other wonderful games out there...I'm not that bad ^_^
The first game was amazing, I loved the feel of it, and on the GBA the soundtrack was really catchy, the storyline was pointless but nobody really cared. it was a game, perhaps the best out of the super mario series in 2d.

Now we go onto the DS version. When I first started to play it, I worried that it simply was going to be a repeat of the first, since the first level was disturbingly similar. Because I've played yoshi's island so many times, I do NOT want a repeat.
I have the feeling that this game would be a lot more stressful then the first one as well. the music...is around average as best, but not unbearable to the point where you turn the volume off and start blaring out rock music to hide the pain in your earlobes. The double screen feature is manageable, and the idea of different ability babies is great, if a little annoying having to change them every now and then.
Maybe I expected too much off this-and though its not as good as the first, it still is a game well worth buying. So don't let my review put you off too much! :3

next to try= castlevania series. goobyeh ;)
