1 out of 5 stars Sorry guys, the search is still on.   August 5, 2008
Where do i start? There are so many problems with this headset i dont think i will remember them all. There is nothing about this headset which makes it stand out at all. If you read the instructions on the back you will get a real feel for how the headset is going to perform. To quote;
'use headset to create conversation on xbox live service with friend'

The main problem with the headset is that you can hardly hear anybody talk. When i tried talking with a friend on private chat i needed to ask him to repeat whatever he had said because all that i could hear was a whisper. And yes, the volume was on full...

Secondly despite being in private chat the conversations between other players in the lobby could still be heard from my TV, making it even harder to hear my friend. After about 10 minutes of my friend screaming down his microphone and yet still bearly being heard we had both had enough.

The build quality is decent if not a little flimsy, but it appears to hold itself together better than it can perform. Make no mistake, this is a knock-off headset that is a disgrace to its market. DEFINATELY avoid and pay that little bit extra for the official one. It isn't reliable, but atleast it works! I also recommend the turtle beach headset. While it is pricey, it is the best one on the market at the moment. I have also owned two wireless headset which suddenly decided to stop working and charging. Despite all of this, i would 100% rank this headset bottom of the pile by a long, long way.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

2 out of 5 stars A few problems:   February 11, 2008

It feels like a cheap alternative, which is fair enough as it is.

It is uncomfortable, more so than the official Xbox version. You can put up with it, but you always feel that you're wearing it - I'm sure you know that feeling, guys, from when you were a kid getting your face painted, and when they were finished you jumped up with excitement with the hairband still on. This headset is not as comfortable as that hairband.

It doesn't always pick up sounds that it should. I understand the need for background music not to be transmitted, but I find I have to start my sentences with a loud noise or people just don't hear me. This isn't a problem if you have the mute switch on the whole time, and turn it off everytime you speak (as the noise that the switch makes is loud enough to start the transmission).

Lastly, I haven't had the headset long enough to know whether it's reliable. My old official Xbox 360 headset that I got with the Xbox broke in three quarters of a year, so the bar isn't really set that high. If I were you, though, I'd spend a few more pounds and get one that really works.
