My life became dragon age for a week solid September 6, 2010 Mr. K. C. O. Howell (Colby) This is one of the best RPGs I have played in a long time. The story is very good and the gameplay is excellent. I have played through this twice once as a dwarf commoner and generally evil character and once as a human rogue and all round goodie. Both times have given a different story and very entertaining inter character conversations.
A couple minor faults with this game however is that many of the games options make little difference to the outcome of the game, so you are unable to be a hated character. Also there are some skill sets such as trap making which seem to be an utter waste of experience to invest in I never once found a use for traps other than in the first villiage when theres a mission to make some. But these are just minor annoyances in an otherwise fantastic game which Im sure to play through once more in the near future.
great game but mroe of a rental August 30, 2010 kharan good game with lots of replay value but get repeatative. with not multiplayer you evetually get bored and even with the dlc it doensn't seem worth it spending all those microsoft points on new content

Awful game,The graphics look like a 10 year old PC game and fairly jerky,The characters look like badly made shop dummies in fact the shop dummies could act better because the voice acting is more wooden than sherwood forest it is AWFUL,A truly bad game.
Gameplay is tedious, controls are sloppy,Buy this and you'll put it oon Ebay next day.
Probably a great game, but... July 24, 2010 Paul R. Norton (London, England) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
...I bought a latest generation XBox 360 (it came out on 12th July 2010) and bought this game at the same time because I'd read so many wonderful things about it. On the day I got the console I played the game for an hour or so. The next evening the console installed and update and... (HORROR OF HORROR'S!!!), the game completely freezes up. Not only does the game freeze, but it also freezes up the entire console so that you have to manually switch it off and restart it to retrieve the disk so you can move on to a playable game.
I've been in touch with the game developers who say they're working with Microsoft to fix the problem. Let's hope that the fix is not months away by which time I will be totally disenchanted and will have probably moved on to something else.
I guess you can tell I'm a tad disappointed.
Excellent RPG, but EA/Bioware need better testers. July 13, 2010 S. Stephenson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Obviously people look to other contemporary RPGs such as Oblivion, Mass Effect and Fable II for comparison, but the truth is that Dragonage is very different sort of game. Dragonage really owes its roots to the old DnD based RPGs - Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 (not the dark alliance games!), Neverwinter Nights, & Planescape. Fans of these games will probably enjoy Dragonage for its return to the old form of hardcore RPGS.
This means however that it is not a game for everyone. If you're not prepared for a steep learning curve and complex, stats-based class and combat systems then this may not be the game for you. I notice that a lot of the bad reviews for this game describe it as a 'button-basher' and I really have no clue how they came to that conclusion as the combat system is incredibly tactical, though a little awkward to use in places. Much like Neverwinter Nights, you select a target for your attack/special ability/spell and then sit back and watch the fight play out according to invisible die rolls.
The story and characters are very well presented, with a huge amount of choice within the player's dialogue options, and these choices will effect quest strings and approval ratings. Once again, if dialogue-heavy RPGs are your sort of thing then Dragonage will win you over fairly quickly. If it's not, then play Fable II instead (an equally brilliant game, though totally different.)
Graphically the game doesn't live up to its contemporaries, and this is obviously a problem for some. I played it on an HD display and found the graphics perfectly acceptable, if a little uninspiring in places. It is true that Dragonage lacks the attention to detail of Oblivion, but it also doesn't not suffer nearly as much from frame rate drops and there are no annoying mid-range 'pop-up' animations like in Oblivion.
The voice acting is for the most part top-rate, at least, most of the characters that you have to listen to a lot (party members and such) are well-voiced. Some voices are a little wooden in places but unfortunately when you demand full voice acting (which the RPG market does these days for some reason) you invariably end up with some average voice acting talent.
One thing that stops this game being a five star is that there are a few major bugs. Thankfully though a patch is finally being released sometime in the next month that deals with most (though not all) of the bugs and glitches.
So four stars for Dragonage, and if you do decide to play it, go into the game with your thinking head on and don't assume that you'll be able to play it within the first five minutes because you won't. If you can endure the learning curve then you'll definitely not be disappointed.
