Product Description Football Manager 2010 sees the return of the famous football management game for the new season, fresh with new signings, tools and features. With a new Tactics Creator and the introduction of touchline shouts and quick tactic changes, you'll always be able to react to the ebb and flow of the game from the dugout. Working with coaches from various levels of football, the game now has an extensive array of pre-set tactical options allowing the user to select a detailed role for a player in the team (such as ball winning midfielder or deep lying playmaker).
Feedback from matches has been improved to give better insight into where your team is going wrong or doing it right. A new Match Analysis tool gives you the power to see where shots, passes, crosses, headers, tackles, fouls and interceptions have been made on the field for all players on the pitch. Viewable both live in-game and post match, pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of both your team and the opposition and mastermind your route to victory accordingly. Football Manager 2010 features a brand new User Interface, with the side bar navigation of previous years replaced by an intuitive tab system at the top of the screen, making Football Manager's famed depth easier to navigate for new managers.
A brand new Data Editor allows the addition of new divisions to existing leagues and of entirely new leagues as well as making it easier than ever to keep the game up to date, and do so for free. For even more information, a new look News Centre allows you to receive an in-game subscription based newspaper with only the news that you want about the football world. Following the debut of a 3D match view in Football Manager 2009, this year's release sees a revamp with improved AI, over 100 new animations for the 3D pitch view, new stadiums, crowds, realistic pitch degradation and better lighting, creating an even more realistic match experience.

Definitely one of the best out there. August 24, 2010 Gary Randell Fraser (Sweden) Love the game, it's detailed, quicker, and allows many more options that weren't previously available, which was great. I found the game fresher, and have spent many an hour on it.
The ONE downer, there was/is a lot of bugs, and occasionally the game crashes, so I set the save-game period to weekly to avoid too much game time loss.
Would recommend this to ANY football enthusiast, and can't wait for the new game to come out.
Still in a league of its own August 17, 2010 Mark Poles (Cornwall, United Kingdom) It's still the best. I could write a lengthy review explaining why, but if you are interested in a detailed tactical simulation of football management, all you need to know is this:
The results you get in Football Manager 2010 feel like the results you would get if you were the manager in real life and you made the same decisions. Now none of us are really Brian "I wouldn't say I'm the best football manager, but I'm in the top one" Clough, but we might like to kid ourselves that we'd buy the right players, bring the youngsters through correctly, ditch the formulaic 4-4-2 in favour of a 4-2-3-1 with two holding midfielders etc. Do that in FM2010, and it probably won't work, but eventually you'll get to the point in the game where you start to have success. Having to graft for that success at first makes it all the more rewarding when it comes.
In old versions of the game (back in the days when they called it 'Championship Manager (not to be confused with the inferior product of that name that you now see)), finding a good formation and buying good players was fairly easy. The game was fun, but the rewards weren't there. Some of the negative reviews on this site seem to be from people who miss that ease-of-winning. Fair enough, but me, I'd rather work for my success.
Oh, also have to say that I've not encountered any of the bugs that others have mentioned.
Addicting! August 16, 2010 michael richards (Salt Lake City) When I was first told this game was addicting, I dismissed it - I will decide if that is true or not. Well, there is no question that this is a VERY addicting game, and extremely fun. But it's also frustrating, as frustrating as watching your own favorite team in real life perform less than expectations some days and other days playing so well, you wonder if they couldn't beat everyone!
Certainly the game is limited in some capacities - you can't interact with the players as much as I would like, for one. But in general, for a computer simulation game trying to take the real world into the virtual, it's incredible.
A Word Of Warning....DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!! August 14, 2010 Bradley Baum (London, England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am one of the many that LOVE to use the data editor and not only was the icon for it well hidden, the data editor was horrible to use! In. C. M. 2009 both were the complete opposite! If you are like me then avoid this like the plague! Go for 2009 instead!
There really is a NON-steam version! August 6, 2010 Seafireliv (UK) I stayed away from this game because of reports that this game forced steam onto me. However, after reading EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER REVIEW and sifting through the yays and nays, I decided to take the plunge.
Football Manager 2010 gives you the option of installing with steam because you can have wonderful benefits like automatic downloads (yea, like I can`t easily find my own)and rubbish like talking to your `friends` 24\7online -or downloading NON-STEAMINGLY from the DVD, which I did. I then went to their website and downloaded the patch- easily. This is how it should be; allow those who want to have Steam have Steam and those who don`t want it, not have it- don`t force us on steam to play the game because some of us will not buy the game otherwise.
Thankyou, makers of FM2010. Now onto the game itself.
Ok, well, I had 2009 and enjoyed it, but got put off by the somewhat sterile format. 2010 revamps itself and is a lot more user-friendly while still keeping all the details.
It`s very easy and straight forward to get going as the helper-wizard will start you off with good hints.
I really like that the fact that your managerial assistants will help you with recommendations and scouting, so you don`t necessarily have to do all the dogwork. I had the option of watching prospective players at an England Trialists and I had my assitant come too so I could check his recommendations with my own. They remind you of stuff you need to do and even pick a Captain of the team for you. There`s a whole feeling that you`re not alone in the managing and that your staff are helping (like real life) - I wish they used this idea for most war -strategy games; give you lieutenants wth their own views and advice while you fight the war. It really makes it easier for the novice to learn the ropes.
The teamtalks and news conferences are all nicely done and add a lot to realism.
The football scenes are what finally brings this game to life though. In 2009, it was just a few dots on a green pitch, now you get actual animated characters, people watching and weather. Your view is top-down from a high TV camera, but the little animatons are so good that you really get a feeling that all that managerial work really was working towards geting a real football team to win a match. You get crowd cheers and whistles, fouls, etc. there could be slightly more grunts from the men, but it`s 10X better than before. Best of all is the fact that you can change strategy on the fly... My men seemed a bit lazy when I could see attacking oppotunities, so I `shouted` at them to attack , they did and scored!
I`m playing my home county- Leicester and I`ve won 3 games so far. Still, these have mostly been friendlies.
The game plays really well on my basic vgn-nr11s 1.5 duo core, crappy graphics card 4 gig ram laptop.
I`ve only played a few games, but I`m pretty involved already.
Recommended.
