Not worth the price August 22, 2010 Griesmayer (Wien, Österreich) For people who haven't bought Dawn of War II yet, I highly recommend buying "Dawn of War II: Gold", because for the price (about 18 pounds, at the moment), you get the original game and the Chaos Rising expansion, which is a fantastic value for the price.
But the Chaos Rising expansion alone for just a handful less is a joke. Especially when you realize that as a regular Dawn of War II owner, you still get to play all the new units for the existing races for FREE, and also get to play alongside (and against) Chaos in both singleplayer and multiplayer. You just don't get to play AS Chaos, and people who aren't Chaos fans to begin with, will only be missing out on the short campaign expansion, that's all.
I recommend buying it once the price drops below a tenner.
DOW II - Chaos Rising August 15, 2010 Crusader The game itself is what you can expect if you bought the original DOW II. Delivery etc was excellent.
Buggy Buggy Buggy Error 183 Memory Dumps May 27, 2010 L. Monckton (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hello everyone,
Stay well clear. Once again Relic or THQ provide a buggy game with some serious memory issues. The game gets to the 3rd mission and crashes with a 183 error and looking at the forums it is a common fault. The recommendation is to drop your graphics settings to low (to get passed the missions that are bugged) and turn of AA. This is not a fix ... this is a work around. They did release a patch recently that was supposed to fix it. But again looking around the forums it would appear it didnt fix it at all.
All in all the game play looks excellent and the 2 levels I have been able to play look beautiful. But if you unfortunate enough to get 183 errors on your system you will find limited to no support out there from either Relic or THQ and will have to waste a considerable ammount of your time trying to fix or workaround a problem that they know about but simply have not fixed.
Great game but too short May 18, 2010 Mr. S. Srinivasan (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a great game, with all the good parts from the first Dawn of War 2; if you liked the first one, then you will definitely like this game. The game play is too short though. Not sure if I like the whole corruption idea, as it means that you have to have weaker armour and weapons to avoid falling to Chaos; however, it does not really diminish the game play. I am now replaying the game with the aim of getting corrupted. It is a shame that you cannot play the story mode as Chaos Marines.
On the plus side, you get to play as Chaos Marines and Tyranids in the multiplayer and online games, which is quite cool.
Overall, well worth the money but has the potential to be so much better.
If you liked DoW 2 then you'll like this! May 11, 2010 Mr. N. C. Y. Li (Nottingham, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Finally they added the chaos space marines with such a good story as well. There is a lot of content on top of the single player with obviously the additional faction of Chaos marines and the much fun "Last stand". Can be a bit difficult when playing the campaign missions but it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy. Highly recommended for any fan of the Warhammer 40K or Dawn of War franchise.
