 It's hack and slash - not rocket science December 4, 2008
As others have said - if you played Sacred and enjoyed it then you will like Sacred 2. It's been made to look very pretty and some have mentioned difficulties running it on their high end pc systems. Despite the minimum specs it runs very well on medium settings on my lowly 1.8ghz dual core vista laptop - more so after the latest patch last week.
As for gameplay - kill monsters, pick up loot and go shopping at your local merchants and then repeat. The storyline is not as engrossing as the original Sacred but this is an action RPG - not a novel. Enjoy it. I am!

summed up in one word BORING............go here and kill + kill on the way left click on anyting that glows, what is it? oh more treasure.
best start in the silver mode and if anyone else is thinking of doing more of these games put some puzzles in it so the brain is used.
still if you like just like killing you will like this, just dont expect to much, oh I did find a monster I could not kill but then again it could not kill me.
Good - But Could Have Been Better December 3, 2008
OK - first thing - download the patches from the official Sacred2 site: I did this, (it took quite a while!), but once installed it works fine, no crashes or glitches- so that gets the performance issues out of the way.
As for the game itself - it's very like the first but with new characters and better graphics - so if you liked that you will like this. I did like the first, and I like this too...but be warned unless you are a fan of hack 'n' slack games like Diablo, Titan Quest, Loki and Sacred1 you are unlikely to like this. On the other hand of course, if you are a fan of the genre you will!
A few things disappoint me about this game: 1) the characters' special skills don't seem to be very balanced - some characters seem to get really good, useful skills, (the Seraphim character for example) while others, like the Inquisitor character, seem quite weak by comparison. 2) Like the first Sacred all skills are available form the start of the game you just have to pick up 'skill tokens' from dead enemies: this takes away quite a lot of the fun you get in games like Titan Quest and Diablo from 'unlocking' higher level skills. 3) The graphics for some of the skills are a bit disappointing - no massive screen filling lightning blasts etc. 4) There are literally hundreds of side quests. This is fine but most are just along the lines of -run to a specific place - kill monster or pick up treasure and then run back to point of origin for reward. I have to say they get a bit tiresome and stop you feeling like the game's main plot is actually going anywhere.
However, even with the points above, I still think this is worthy of 4 stars - it has gorgeous graphics, HUGE game world and quite a few unusual characters to choose from. In this age of first person shooters, (go get a console and leave PC's alone!), there are not a lot of games of this type around, and this is one of the better ones. I suppose I should say (along with everyone else) that this is a pretty good distraction until Blizzard get their finger out and release DiabloIII.

The original Sacred was a great game that, although not exactly groundbreaking, it offered many hours of action-cRPG fun. What is more, its publisher had the good sense to price it reasonably from the start and thus fight piracy in the most effective way.
SACRED 2, although enjoys more demanding environmental graphics and spell effects, is just another victim of clueless gaming industry executives. Instead of learning from the history of their own game, they'd rather idiotically jump on the "SecuROM/Limited Activations" bandwagon. After all, if they can hide behind the "everyone is doing it" excuse, who can blame them when the game does poorly?
They are obviously under the illusion that selling at full price a game that is actually RENTED will fail to be...noticed! Respect is a two way street - and underestimating gamers' intelligence is not a good start.
It is a shame that SACRED 2 got shot in the foot by its own publisher. Now, instead of being another success, it will simply be another game sacrificed on the alter of corporate Greed and marketing incompetency.
AVOID.

I bought this game a few days ago and had no problems loading it or running it. You have to make sure you have the right PC specs though. Minimum specs are: 2.6GHz Dual Core processor. 1GB ram. 128MB graphics card. DirectX-9.0d. NVIDIA GeForce 6200 ATT. Radeon X1300. Intel 945GM or better. You need 20GB HDD space. Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or Windows Vista with Service Pack 1.
I emphasis these are the minimum specs, ideally a 512MB ram graphics card is better. ie: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX. You must make sure you if you have XP that you have upgraded to Service Pack 3! At the start of the game it does quite a comprehensive check of your system and if you do not have these specs then I presume you will have problems.
I can't say too much about the game yet as I have only been playing it for a few hours. It looks pretty enough and I am playing as a High Elf. Mainly for the eye candy as she is quite pretty. (OK I am odd, I have to admit it haha!) As the game is over 20MB it does take a while to install (well over 30mins.) And it has the usual anti-piracy precautions built in. I guess if you are not a pirate then this is not a problem!
There is a huge gaming area involved, so this will keep the avid RPG game player amused for quite a while. I seem to have acquired some sort of buddy that has tagged along with my character and I find him extremely annoying as he keeps saying the same things over and over again. It goes something like "To me, to me, all units to me!" I feel like strangling him. Also in the initial stages I keep coming across hoards of Kobolds. They are funny little dwarf like goblins that are easy to kill but are relentless in their unceaseing attacks on my character. In fact my character can be heard constantly saying "Oh Lord, spare me from these Kobolds!"
So I am wondering if this game will keep my attention going? My boredom theshold is quite low and if things do not change for the better I fear this game will end up in my ever increasing graveyard of PC games next to my computer. I have given this game 3 out of 5 stars, in other words it is an OK sort of game but does not blow my socks off! I will give it a few more days to see how it pans out, but I am not holding my breath on this one!
