No no no no no! November 19, 2008 So bad
I mean where to start
the graphics which most people highlight as its best points is awful. Cannot compare with SvR. The Graphics and gameplay remind me of Smackdown and Smackdown 2 KYR. The gameplay is to quick and is not ecologically valid. Season mode is a bore and so frustrating. And if you just want to little exhibitions then you have a limit of like 10 wrestlers when you first start off.
1 Good point. Ultimate X Match is fun but i don't play it as game overall is awful and i just play svr 2009 which is superb.
stick to tv for now!.. October 26, 2008 With the amount of hype that went into this game, this game did not deliver..at all. The actual gameplay is somewhat reasonable and the graphics are pretty good but there are too many flaws; The entrances are a joke, the moves are limited which means everyone can perform everything, as a weapon only a chair is available and the overall story mode is too short. If you never really appreciated SVR series, trust me you will enjoy them a whole more after playing this game. rent it if you must, dont buy!
Disappointing October 26, 2008 For all of the hype surrounding it, TNA Impact just doesn't have what it takes to compete with the WWE's Smackdown vs Raw Franchise to become the number one wrestling game. Despite being in development for over two years, it would seem that Midway have been unable to create anything more than a simple stop-gap until the next WWE release. But before going onto the negatives of this game, let's talk about the positives.
Graphically, the game is phenomenal. I'll be the first to admit that all of the wrestlers look like their real life counterpart which is more than the WWE games can say for themselves. Ultimate X is a fun match at first but once you've figured out the trick to it then it becomes all too easy to pick up the win over your opponent(s).
Now the bad points. Story Mode is going to get one play, as the story is linear all the way through with no brancing paths. Also, it has some frustrating moments such as wrestling non-stop matches against Miday Created Wrestlers rather than TNA's top talent. There is voice acting, but none from Sting, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles or Christian Cage who are some of TNA's top stars which really lets things down. The in-game matches are good at first but become repetitive quickly, especially when you realise all finishers bar the Cradle Shock are locked along with a load of other basic moves that need to be unlocked by amassing style points. While this is a good idea in theory, put into practice you quickly realise that it's not a good idea making someone play through a series of matches just to unlock an eye rake. The other big failure is the lack of moves, Sting has no Scorpion Deathlock and Kurt Angle has no Ankle Lock, all finishers are performed from a front grapple and there are no reverse grapples and all wrestlers have generic submission attacks that don't set them apart from each other.
If you want an in-depth game with multiple match types, the ability to create your own wrestler to your high expectations and an all-round enjoyable gaming experience I'd recommend waiting for Smackdown vs Raw 2009, but if you're a TNA die-hard fan I'd say give this a try and see what you make of it but as a casual TNA fan, I must say it's not the game it could or indeed should have been.
The TNA Flop!! October 21, 2008 How wrong is this game? To start! there's no depth a handful of matches, 30 wrestlers if your lucky (all doin the same moves??)no create-a-player/championship/stable/move (no create owt)OH TO BE FAIR there's a ettemped at a create a plyer but er no its poor very poor, plus you can only access this though story mode (which aint to bad but just pulling at straws). The only good thing and there is only one is the graphic very nice! but if i wanted a movie id buy one, what we need is graphics with gameplay! So after my whine!! My verdict is if you want a real wrestling game wait for SvsR 09!!!!
how bad can it get September 28, 2008 Before this game came out they said it going to be better than smackdown, which got me excited but they where so wrong. The has been so poorly put together i would not where to begain but in short do not waste your money! If i had to one good thing about the game is that it has a half descent storyline. But u have to play it just to see bad it is i can not think of the words.
