Coming out towards the end of the original Xbox's life, the first Forza Motorsport was a sadly overlooked gem that was as realistic as Gran Turismo but far more exciting and accessible to the average player. Despite being close to release, surprisingly little is known about the sequel, although it has been confirmed that it will include over 300 licensed cars with everyone from Nissan and Volkswagen to Lamborghini and Chevrolet having a presence on the track. All of the cars feature realistic damage; this can range from tiny scratches on the paintwork to almost splitting your car in two during a particularly devastating crash. If you're the type of driver that likes their car damage-free, you can set the realism of the modelling to whatever you want.

The final game is expected to include over 70 different real world tracks, including Suzuka Circuit in Japan and Sebring International Raceway in Florida. There are also many fictional tracks, some inspired by real world locations. The game also supports multiplayer via Xbox Live, split-screen and system link. Every vehicle is customizable via the in-built decal editor, and you can trade cars and liveries with other players via Xbox Live. If you fancy the ultimate driving experience, then grab the official Xbox 360 Wireless Steering Wheel that has been developed specifically for the game. And to really impress your mates, you can setup multiple TV screens for an almost 360 degree view of the game. Any more realistic and you'd need a driving license to play. - HARRISON DENT

5 out of 5 stars FORMULA FUN   August 15, 2007
What an absolutely great game. Brilliant graphics and really enjoyable gameplay. The best race game by far!

3 out of 5 stars NOT A GAME TO KEEP   July 9, 2007

I had major issues before buying this game and they where confirmed when I played it.
Dont get me wrong this is a stunning game. The amount of cars and moding options is absolutely massive, days WILL be lost by designing your car design alone.

The Graphics are beautiful and clean and the sound is again equally good.
Gameplay wise there is many many cups and hidden cars to collect which will keep you going for months possibly years to perfect and get major records.

HOWEVER!- This is the major thing for me playabilty... I have a real issue with realistic car sims. They simply arent fun for anything more than a hour. You play this is one player and you'll get a few hours down the line of racing round the same boring( yet beautiful) tracks I gurantee you'll be reaching for DIRT, or burnout or my new fav Flatout.
You play this game online and 9/10 times it resorts to a destruction derby race, but if you want a game like that buy flatout/burnout those games are designed for that sort of racing and fun as well.

As mentioned in the Amazon review - Any more realistic and you'd need a driving license to play.
I have a driving license and I'd rather be out driving in my own real world vehicle, No dont use the reason well you'll never drive a Honda NSX or a Bugatti Veron ... No and I never will but gamewise they'll never be able to re-create the fun. Look at it this way for a small a amount of money I can take my car over to Germany and drive the Nürburgring Nordschleife for REAL.

This game isnt fun, Its boring as sitting in traffic for hours.Yes it has loads of options loads of cars but is soooo dull.Know you'll only end up playing DIRT/Burnout/Flatout after a few hours of buying this game.

4 out of 5 stars Falling short of excellence   June 28, 2007

First things first, as has been said many times here this game is excellent, it's well structured, easy to pick up and play and infinitely customise-able. If you're a beginner then whack the driving assists on and the racing line and turn the AI down, when you get better you can gradually turn these assists off for a more realistic approach, you don't NEED to tweak and tune the cars to complete the career (I haven't) but the option is there, it can be as easy or challenging as you want it. There's loads of cars and options and online multiplayer is superb. The one gripe I have and the reason it gets 4 stars is the tracks, a lot of them are bland and there's just not enough of them, by the time you reach driver level 50 I guarantee you'll be sick and tired of tackling the same tracks or variations thereof, more tracks would have elevated this to classic status but as it stands it falls just short of that. A worthy purchase for anyone with petrol in their veins and a love of cars and for the artistic among you the livery editor is incredible and your works of art can be brought to the masses via the innovative auction house. As a footnote I would like to say that the collector's edition is worth the extra, the book is very interesting, it's always nice to have more cars and, maybe just a little thing, I prefer the box art. If you haven't already then splash the cash, it's 40+ hours of foot to the floor fun!

5 out of 5 stars Gran TurWhatmo??? FORZA!!!   June 13, 2007

Seeing as how Amazon was selling the limited edition for the same price as the normal version I went ahead with the limited edition. With this you get a special booklet and a token for 3 bonus cars from the xbox 360 live auction room.

The game itself is brilliant. For the first couple of races you struggle to get used to the controls, and then you improve your cars handling and things really pick up. I've only had the game a couple of hours and I now have 10 cars and have completed about 7/8 cups.

The graphics on this game are wicked, the sound is very realistic and so is the game play. This game would be great for beginers or people who play a lot of racing games. I love the fact that your car actually gets damaged when you crash and if you hit another car.

There are obvious comparisons to gran tourismo, however I think that this game wins that battle by allowing you to get on with racing instead of having to complete licences first. With Forza you just build up credits and the more you get the more you can do. Apart from that the 2 games are very similar.

If you want a great racing game for the xbox 360 then it has to be Forza, I've played all of the other racing games and they don't compare. There are plenty of different game modes to keep you entertained and I'm sure the online game play is just as good.

Last but not least there are over 300 cars and when you consider that you can tune and customise every detail of each car then you could end up with endless possibilities. The controls are also very easy to use, you can use the triggers to gently ease off of the brakes or gradually build up the gas.

Buy it!!! and if you can get the limited edition then go for that.

5 out of 5 stars one word, FANTASTIC!!!!!!   June 12, 2007

The game is great and it has a highly addictive career. Worth every penny. Also the limited edition is good because it is a really thick book and full writing + few pictures. It helps you with over steer and other things like that. Oh yeah it also talks about different car companys + you get three extra cars. The custom feature is brilliant and keeps you hooked for ages. In my opinion it is a great game up there with the other great games, gow, oblivion etc. If u do or dont like racing belive me this game is good, but watch out for those corners.
