Lets get one thing straight. This game isn't a racing simulation. What it is is bags of fun. The career mode is great fun. Having to smash into things, including other cars is part of the game and you won't get very far if you don't. It really gets dog eat dog as you are as much the victim as the villain. There is carnage mode which is where you are set targets in different events and races and you have to complete them to unlock the next levels. There is also the rag doll mode, which is where this game really comes into it's own. When you crash badly, the driver flies out of windscreen. In the ragdoll events you crash and use the driver to do events such as highjump, basketball and bowling. Hvaing a few mates round doing these is great. If you have played FlatOut 2 then you'll notice that the tracks are pretty much the same, but the game overall is much better. Don't take this game too seriously just enjoy it, drive Flatout and smash into as much as you can. Alternitvely you can play Forza 2 if you want something more realistic.

I absolutely love Flatout, everything about it. From the unpredicatble AI to the stupidly OTT "smash everything, just have a good time" kind of motto the game comes with.
In an age where Forza, Gran Turisimo and Project Gotham dominate the driving game market, it's been too long since a Destruction Derby esque racer came out to give us plastic racing fans some fun.
I don't want to spend hours upon hours trying to level up my car, in races where you have maybe 2 or 3 chances to overtake the AI/opposition, that's for the hardcore fans of the genre (much like Football in as far as I love Football Manager, there are always some casual fans hate it because it's so in depth).
So why not 5 stars then?
Because as a few reviewers have stated, it's only an update of the already brilliant PS2 version, shinier graphics, a couple of new AI characters and a top notch online mode.
Once the real next gen Flatout comes out, then we will have a 5 star game............hopefully.

This game is Great the graphics are nothing short of amazing and the rag doll is good too
This game is all about having fun so if you take games way too seriously then get pgr4 or forza I love smashing into other cars and stuff and running over everything this game isnt ment to be a driving sim and it isnt its all about having fun and a laurgh with your mates on xbox live. (while you smash into them and run them off the road)
4/5 coz it dosnt appeal to everyone but what game does but 5/5 for fun

I bought this game as replacement for Burnout whilst I waited for Paradise and I have to say it's a good game, the grapghics show next gen at it's best and other than the handling of some the cars I can't see a problem with the game at all.

I have played the first flatout on pc and loved it but this on the xbox 360 is evening better, so much fun and very realistic handling. The cars/ surroundings/trees/shopping trolleys/bins etc etc look amazing running on 1080p.
The cars come almost completely apart and the sounds of crashing and hitting things are perfect.
Great work on this game, Well done Empire Studios. Keep it up.
