 Don't be put off because its PS2, this is a fantastic game June 20, 2008
It's a bit late in the day to still be releasing games on PS2, this game was also meant to be released on Xbox 360 but in the end they shelved that idea and decided to wait until SBK 08 for the next gen versions, but don't let that put you off. I soon got used to less than next gen graphics, but when the gameplay is this good, I just didn't care, this is a great bike game.
This is the same company who made the excellent Superbike 2000 and 2001 on the PC, and also the recent Moto GP 07 on the PS2, if anyone has played those games they will know what a good job they make of bike games.(Their Moto GP 07 has put shame upon Namco the previous developers, who in comparison just can't make decent bike games).
After spending a little time getting used to the on bike view, then the racing experience really starts to come alive, it has a fast framerate and great handling, and a host of options to make it simmy or as arcade as you like.
With all the riders of the real season and all but two of the tracks, I guess they couldn't get the licenses for Lausitzring and Vallelunga,this gives you all you could want from a bike racer, there are also race pics and videos, and Umbrella girl photos to unlock as you progress through the game. I would also recommend Moto GP 07 on the PS2, it's made by Milestone too but its different enough to be worth playing in addition to this title.
The best bike game I've ever played June 14, 2008
Though i have only played on a few other bike games, i know from experience that this has everything to make it fun.
with all the tracks from the World Superbike calender, comes knockout action at every hair pin with great graphics and easy controls.
And it's down to the likeability of motorbike racing that i loved this game, to play on all the tracks which you see on TV
a personal favourite of mine is Brno with its fast and flowing corners and the worst corner in the world, the first corner at Monza after a fast staright, watch out for that one!
you can race, time trial, train, have a weekend, championship, challenges including doing a wheelie for 10 seconds and unlock pictures and videos by completing certain tasks.
this is the ultimate game for bike fans everywhere

Have been into car racing games for many years now with the occasional dip into biking but always jumping back out again due to the lack of anything good. Rented SBK from a local store, set it straight to simulation mode (as I always do) - this is my experience:
Gameplay (5/5): very, very difficult to handle (which so many games fail to achieve), so to finally start laying down some respectable times after a few hours felt extremely worthwhile. I always use in-car or hemlet cam views for realism - certainly achieves this in this game. The back wheel snakes around both on cornering AND braking (again, something most racing game developers don't manage to realistically achieve) with the option for mutual breaking or separate front and back. All in all, a thrilling experience.
Graphics(3/5): could be better I feel (MotoGP 4 looks much better). That said, revert to Gameplay above and you won't notice much. Wet weather graphics look much better than dry. BIGGEST GRIPE: why does it take 40 seconds to load a track and another 40s to load the menu afterwards? This becomes extremely tedious..had it not been for this fault, I would have purchased the game? GT4 has an 11 mile track which takes about 10s to load!!
Sound (5/5): simply excellent, high whines through to deep and dirty roars.
AI (3/5): can be annoying when someone hits you and only you fly off your bike. Same goes for if you hit someone and again you seem to be the only one in the gravel.
General: good number of tracks (22, don't know if more become available) incl. Brands Hatch, Magny Cours, Silverstone Int'l (not GP), Brno and Valencia.
As said, excellent and thrilling game hugely let down by tedious loading times.

I was looking forward to this game to come out for months and i wasnt disapointed. The gameplay is quite difficult to get used to but is very addictive like the old computer game. The graphics are better than what i was expecting but could still be improved. The sounds of the bikes are amazingly realistic, there are good varieties of bikes and tracks including the best track brands hatch. It is a good game and is worth getting if you are a biking fan but maybe not such a good idea if you just like racing games.

this game is very good, not as good looking as motogp4 but is very very good. rookie level is probably too easy however it's good to start at this level to learn the game. it seems very easy to slide off with one button for one brake and another for rear brake, but with practice you can master this. lots of settings to change and various types of game, ( challange, race weekend and championship to name a few). only down point in my opinion is that i can not do championship as toseland until i have unlocked him. however i would recommend this game to anyone who is into superbike, could be bikes version of gtr....
