3 out of 5 stars Fun, but also very frustrating in places.   November 3, 2008
Crash Bandicoot is back, and this time his old enemies Cortex and Uka Uka are stealing 'mojo', which will turn the local wildlife into giant monsters and help them rule the world. It's up to Crash, with the help of Aku Aku, to stop them. The villains have also kidnapped Coco, are forcing her to help them in their evil plan.

In this game you will have to 'jack' large enemies. This involves hitting a titan until it's dazed, then jumping on its shoulders and taking control of it through the use of Aku Aku. This leads to some great monster-stomping action, as some of the titans really are massive.

The main gripe here is that this is not so much a platform game as a combat game with platform elements thrown in. As the titans can't jump, there's no question of using them in what platform areas there are. Though the game is fun and has some nice scenery, the problem is that the levels just repeat themselves. Difficulty is achieved by having a whole army of titans on the screen at once. This can lead to problems. Jacking a titan can be nigh on impossible when there are two or more of them clobbering you. There doesn't seem to be very much skill involved in the titan-fighting. You just stand there face-to-face exchanging blows until one of you falls over. Some of the later arenas, such as the Uka Uka boss, are so ridiculously hard you'll run out of lives in a few moments. The cut-scenes look good, and some of the characters are funny, but you can't skip them and so they feel like a total intrusion. I lost count of the number of times I had to sit through Nina grunting like a pig, the lisping Aku Aku and the quite repugnant Coco whining on.

If you happen to have a cheat-code device then this game is much more fun and add a couple of stars to the score, but otherwise it's just frustrating. You shouldn't be throwing your control-pad across the room and yelling obscenities in what is supposedly a kid's game.

terrible, terrible. do not buy this if you are expecting it to be like crash 2 and three. its dreadful!you just spend every level fighting to get into monster bodies. there is no goal or fun in this at all.

4 out of 5 stars IS this Crash   December 28, 2007

I got this game for christmas and my entire family was hoping for something that embodied the old crash spirit. We had played most of the crash games and although likeing twinsanity i had found that it wasnt really crash. Teaming up with cortex wasnt right and the lack of a hub to choose levels from was strange but overall it was good. The newest game confirmed my fears that when naughty dog handed over its control of crash to these new companies things really changed. The fact that you had to first unlock and then combo to get his spin attack not to mention that he got stunned after performing said attack confirmed it. Crash of the Titans was a good game and would have been awesome if it wasnt crash. It just wasnt really fun for me as it wasnt crash and as such was sort of empty. Of course the game had good points and jacking titans was fun. The multiplayer was a nice touch and well made aswell. Overall if it wasnt a crash game it would have been five star. I just hope that they wont give crash a gun next game.
