Another Great Sony Product.. November 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I normally buy Sony as I've always found them to be excellent quality, this is no exception, I bought the KDL40X3000 for our front room, and it has an exceptional picture quality no matter what the source or what you are watching, this, the KDL32V4000 might be cheaper, and not have the more advanced features of it's bigger and higher spec brother, but it delivers superb picture quality, the built in Digital receiver has succeeded where external boxes have failed and found channels I could not previously get. All inputs so far have proved that this Set copes superbly with whatever you throw at it, with the only exception being that age old problem, Football...noticeable motion blur, especially when the camera pans out, but not enough to disturb or ruin the picture...overall fantastic value for money, and once again excellent service from Amazon and City-Link..delivered within 5 days of being ordered.
Better than expected November 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Firtsly many thanks to others for their reviews - most helpful.
Having done lots of research, spent too much time in Curry's, Comet and John Lewis and agonised over which TV to get I narrowed it down to 3 Sony models. This one, the KDL40W4000 & KDL40W4500. In the end as this was going to be in the bedroom (15x15 ft) I decided on the least expensive option and must say am delighted with the result.
Firstly the picture is much better than I expected and seems far better than it is in the shops. Freeview is excellent, colours are strong and sharp and I think the sound is good too!
Although only a week old I have spent time studying it especially watching sport, rugby/football(and horse racing - not a sport I watch) and motion blur is not a problem in my opinion - and I'm picky! It probably isn't as sharp as the other two metioned but for the money (circa 400/500 cheaper) than the other, all be it bigger, TVs it seems like a no brainer!
Set up was virtually automatic & ridiculously quick (5 mins)and special delivery was v quick - thanks amazon.
All in all very happy indeed.
5 star as it does everything it claims to do November 23, 2008 Just installed this in my parents house they needed a digital TV and with the recent deals on this model it was too good to miss out on.
they only have an analog aerial, DVD player and VCR. So the rating is based on those sources only.
the TV arrives in a box not much bigger than the assembled dimensions listed and is reasonably light in weight and can be moved about by one person.
It has to be unpacked from the top however so its probably best to have a second person available to lift the screen out, although its can be done by one person again.
The base comes assembled and the screen gets placed on it then 3 screws need fitted to connect them together (Philips screwdriver required-not supplied)
Easily hooked up to the afforementioned components a couple of scarts and the co-axial in this case, those and the other connections are placed in the lower right hand quadrant on the back panel, looking from the back
Tuning was a few simple clicks of the remote after installing the supplied batteries.
88 digital channels were located and 6 analog channels (1 was just white noise so was deleted)
the digital picture quality was outstanding and both parents commented on it immediately, as an avid Plasma fan I was also quite taking aback considering the signal was from a basic aerial, I could be tempted as well for a second TV.
I left them playing with the remote and checking out the EPG etc, the seem well happy! job done
A Classic (from a woman's perspective) November 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I enjoy this TV - it's gorgeous, slinky black and doesn't look like the 2001 Space Odyssey monolith has made a new home in my living room. It's easy to put together (stand-to-TV) and I had no problems at all with tuning. My only additional cost was a 30 pound HDMI cable to use with the DVD player. I have had this Sony for just over a month now and I LOVE IT!
TV + cable and all together under 400 pound - this was a great buy.
Realy Gooood!!! November 19, 2008 Having previously owned an LG 19 inch tv for two years, I was excited about the prospect of having my very own large flat-screen. I ordered on Friday night and it was duly delivered yesterday evening. Setup took less than 10 minutes and after a bit of tweaking using setting from AV forums, all i can say is that the picture quality is amazing even on standard defination and hgh defination is just beyond words, far better than on my previous tv even though you cannot really compare. there is loads of inputs to connect your devices, games, etc and the TV looks nice aswell which is definately a plus. my only slight qualm with this is that dark scenes sometimes are a bit too dark but that can be probably solved with a bit of more tweaking. In all a very good bargain for less than 330 pounds, Money well spent in my opinion, can't wait to watch some blue-ray movies. Oh and also in addition to this, i have just setup my ps3 to stream content straight from my pc so i can watch on my tv and prison break, movies, and anime look absolutely fabulous, it may seem like i'm exxagerating but it is quite good.
