Nothing New but for the money..... November 12, 2008 Blatently stolen mechanics from Diablo however for the cost its not exactly going to break the bank. Hack and slash RPG which is especially fun to play with friends. Yes its nothing new and not breaking any genre boundries but if you want some solid killing and looting for a good few hours with mates its worth the tiny price tag.
Soulless fun September 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yep, another action RPG with mechanics liberally stolen from Diablo 2. Leave town, kill monsters, level up, loot the corpses and transport back to town to sell your ill-gotten gains. Rinse and repeat forever, with the occasional subquest (usually based around yet more monster killin') thrown in for good measure.
Yes the graphics are nice and there's a large amount of character customisation to be done and don't forget the compelling nature of slow, inexorable progress towards more power, but really we've been playing the same game for years and to be honest I'm getting a bit sick of the grind. Barely made it halfway through the main plotline before I packed it in with a cry of 'what's the point?'.
Two stars may seem harsh but there needs to be some radical reinvention of the genre before it interests me again. Buy it if you have some time to kill.
annoying September 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
simple review.
This is not worth the money. Lover's of diablo 2 do not get this game. Repetative + annoying = Titan Quest. I love the greeks (plato reader) but this is stupid, kidish and downright absurd. Won't go on and on, just not recommended.

A good fun hack-and-slash.... August 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As many have commented on the the pre "Gold Edition" versions of this game, this is not a Diablo 2 killer.
Although it is prettier (almost by default simply because it's much less old a game!), and has more classes etc. to play, it doesn't have the same soul. Toppling D2 is not impossible, a genre benchmarks are not all infallible. Is Half-Life the only good FPS game? Are Star Wars and Star Trek the only quality/popular sci-fi? Yes, because they are genre benchmarks, it is hard to compare sometimes, but they are there and that's that.
If Titan Quest had come a bit sooner, say within 1-4 years of D2 perhaps it would have been a closer run thing. As it is, it does not seem the most efficient of code as for the significant step up in system requirements there is not a commensurate increase in visual "wow factor".
Here's how I stack it up against Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction:-
- D2:LoD - TQ:IT Graphics - Adequate (v.g. at the time) - Good Sound - Good - Okay Intro movie - Excellent - Excellent "Outtro" - Excellent - None :( Other movies - Good - None :( Gameplay - Excellent & addictive. - Good. Less addictive. Multiplayer - Excellent (some still play!)- Okay
TQ seems to fair poorly here, but do remember that D2 is much older and for all but hardcore players the multiplayer gets very difficult on the third setting ("Hell").
Summary: My third favourite (after D2 and Nox) action CRPG-lite!
