Jumping on the bandwagon... November 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought every C+C game from Amazon and was very excited to see the new one but having read the reviews I have decided to give it a miss, at least until a version is released which allows me to do what I want with it! I believe that once you've paid for a game you should own it and be able to install and re-install as often as you like. My boyfriend must have installed the early games a dozen times by now - all our games are re-installed every time we update the PCs. Also, I don't like spyware so why would I buy a game which forces me to accept it?
Sorry EA, another fan bites the dust!
Waste of Money!! If Westwood made this it would have been awesome! November 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all..... I didn't even know about DRM and shocked that EA would do such a thing! However, how often have I installed a game 5 times? Very rarely. At the most I think 3 for reformatting and a new pc altogether.
After playing the game, I uninstalled it and deleted the files! Didnt fulfil my warry needs. It's too cartoony and the units are terrible! The elevation view is too low to the ground! So one doesnt get a full proper battlefield view during the game! The control panel is too much in your face and abit cluttered. Its not easily recognisable from the icons if a 'power station' is a power station.
I think EA spent all the budget on 2nd rate hollywood actors (with the exception of Tim Curry and George Takei), marketing and hype without actually paying attention to the game detail itself.
Red Alert and Red Alert 2 I own and still play to my hearts content. Fantastic RTS at the time of release. Therefore, I am going back to play Generals Zero Hour skirmish. Even better when its played listening to the Red Alert 1 & 2 soundtracks! :)
SO TO ANY WOULD BE BUYERS..... STAY AWAY!!! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!
Another series EA have butchered. November 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The game is average at best thanks to the mighty "EA".
The whole DRM thing however just takes the biscuit. As many people have said, this won't stop pirates, it will just annoy real fans of the series such as me and many other people I know.
My advice? Buy Red Alert 2 - DRM free and NOT made by EA.
Should have stuck to tacky football games . . .
There is another way? November 20, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
As i seen through all the reviews that many poeople are hating EA for putting spyware on to a game that seems very impressive. THERE IS ANOTHE WAY! if you want to buy the game spy ware free. all you need to do is buy the xbox 360 version no spy ware no problem. although the controlls are very different the game and gameplay are still the same. The only problem i see is if you dont have the 360 console.
DRM loses another sale November 19, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not a lot to add, Im just posting to add weight to the anti DRM movement in the hope that EA might start listening to their (ex)customers.
