Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
There never was a video game of Casino Royale, but now Activision is making up for lost time with a title that incorporates both Casino Royale and its immediate sequel, Quantum of Solace. It’s primarily a first-person shooter, but it does switch to an over-the-shoulder view when hiding under cover or taking part in interactive cut scenes.
Daniel Craig is a big games fan and has taken a personal interest in the game
Almost everything in the game can be destroyed or damaged
Stealth is just as important as gunplay when you’re James Bond
Close combat switches out of first person view for a more cinematic effect

Just like the Bond movies, the game offers a mixture of action and stealth, with the chance to take down enemies instantly if they don’t see you. You’ll almost always be outgunned, but you’re given clues as to which strategy to take by the changing music.

Bond's aresenal has been slimmed down in the new films, so it makes sense that there aren’t many gadgets in the game. There is an online multiplayer mode that pays homage to past classic Bond games such as GoldenEye 007. Which should hopefully make Bond’s video game comeback as successful as his cinematic return.

Key Features
  • You only live twice: Recreate the stories of both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace in one game, including deleted scenes and new side missions.
  • Duty calls: The game uses the same graphics technology as Call of Duty 4, including bullets that realistically pass through wood and other materials.
  • You know his name: The game features not only the voice and likeness of Daniel Craig, but also Judi Dench as M, Mathieu Amalric as villain Dominic Greene, and Olga Kruylenko as Camille.
  • Shaken not stirred: A mix of first- and third-person viewpoints allows for both shooter action and tense stealth-based exploration.
  • Licence to kill: Battle friends in the online mode in a wide range of game types.
About the Developer: Treyarch
One of publisher Activision’s biggest internal studios, Treyarch have worked on many of the company’s best known titles, from the Spider-Man movie tie-ins and spin-offs to several of the Call of Duty sequels and, of course, the new James Bond game, Quantum of Solace.

1 out of 5 stars WARNING!!! SO AWFUL I FELTTHE NEED TO WRITE TO ACTIVISION   November 17, 2008
I bought this game for my younger brother for his birthday. He doesn't usually play this sort of platform of game. However, this failed to stop him completing it within 4 hours, probably less. He played it on a fairly difficult setting. I paid 40 quid for it from game and they would not take it back! Stuck now with a useless birthday present that my brother is incredibly dissapointed with, I'd have been better off buying him nothing.

4 out of 5 stars My Names bond and you're dead......BANG   November 11, 2008
Ok so I have read some of the other reviews on here and it seems some people have missed the point with the new harder no nonsense 007.

I agree the game is quite short although there are lots of trophies plus multiplayer to keep you occupied for a while.

The new James Bond is harder, more ruthless and has no frilly nonsense around the edges. This is represented in the game. This is a very good 1st person shooter, the cover system works very well there's a mass of weaponry to choose from (PPK, machine guns snipers and grenade launchers) The game covers the key elements of QOS and Casino royale. The game play is very good and the enemy AI is hugely improved from the dummies you used to get given as target practice. They will out flank you and throw grenades to get you into the open. At the same time they dont just stand aind wait for 007 to shhot them.

Oh and the 3rd person action takedown is very good indeed. Tap the R3 stick then hit a combo of buttons to see Bond break necks, smash elbows and ruthlessly takle out opponents.

Overall a very good game, with real actor voices, good grapics (could be better) great selection of weapons, great cover system and challenging enemies. Bond fans will love it and so should most action/ shooter gamers.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing ...   November 10, 2008
Any game which takes only a very few hours to play (and with ease) is disappointing. The game is pretty clunky and I have been left with this feeling that the owners of 'brand names' (Lost, James Bond, etc) seem to view gamers as a little dim - that we will be so swept away with the opportunity to play our "hero's/heroes'" game that we will not notice graphics that jerk around, a story line that is terribly weak and a brevity of content which - in today's world of Call of Duty, Mercenaries, etc - is pretty insulting. So, my recommendation is that you save your increasingly valuable pennies and pounds for something else.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good   November 7, 2008
I've really enjoyed playing this game so far, the graphics are good, and the gameplay is inventive and varied. However I suspect some of that variety will become repetitive after a while. There are other areas that the game falls down on. Unfortunately, there are parts of the game that you can only watch, rather than play as you might have been able to in previous Bond games (for example driving. The car chase scene right at the beginning of QOS would seem a perfect opportunity to drive!). Having seen the film, I can tell you that while it does take place in scenes from the film, the game misses out massive sections of the film that you would have thought would make a good mission. These parts of the film are overlapped by a briefing screen between missions, which has a diaglogue between M and Bond (normally), which lets you know what is going on. However several key moments are missed out, and for a 2 hour film, when the 4th mission in the game is about 3/4 of the way through the film's plot, you can't help but be disappointed. The game whilst quite pretty and fun is too short, and feels a tad rushed and not very well thought through.

3 out of 5 stars Not so Quantum   November 4, 2008
The Graphics for this game are fairly decent i also like the switch between first and third person although it does become annoying when it switchs sometime espicially on the hardest level.

The way you hack locks on this game is so dull and hasnt been thought through it lights up which arrow to press on the screen u press them and hey presto. They could have come up with something more challenging.

There are a few times throughout the game bond has to balance running across beams of some sort you use the analouge stick to balance far to easy, sixaxis? where wish they had used this for balance.

I personally thought the story was too short although that was on the 2nd level setting cant remember what its called nowon the hardest which is 007 level thats proving to take a lot of time to complete now. i found most of the game to be based on the old movie that isnt really a problem though.#

This game supports trophies think it could be quite easy to get them all if you invest time.

Online its not like any other shooter online its not that good although is very easy and fun although its more old school like the old bond games and hasnt really moved on alot but iv played again just for trophies.

SO do you buy this game? if your a bond fan then probably yes. If your not i think there are too many new games out there for you too waste money on this.
