Cute, quirky fun! October 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a brilliant concept! You are a simple blob with an aim to roll and bounce through worlds of varying difficulties, find your 20 friends, get fatter and clear the stage. Using only the PSP's shoulder buttons, you tilt the gaming screen to roll and use either of the same buttons to bounce. It is very relaxing to play! The blob's vocals and background music are so funny, I'm sure it is in Japanese and is pretty catchy!
The game is like the platform games of old with a simple side-scrolling action and bonus ability to bounce/roll backwards to a degree of you can manage. Background is a non-confusing solid coloured affair with numerous hidden passages to discover. Enemies are amusing to defeat with your rotund little body! The game also allows you to replay each level as often as you like so if you've missed anything, you get a chance to find it/beat your time/score/etc. Gives you something to compete against.
I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes simple yet challenging gameplay. Simple in controls, challenging in clearing each level 100%!
A 'lovely' game July 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is simply a great game. The graphics are a feast for the eyes! lovely, colourful spongy backgrounds. And ooh the satisfaction of growing bigger as you collect more little ones. If you just literaly want to go from the start to the end of the level then the game is really easy which is useful as its stops you getting frustrated if you cant collect all the bonus. You can however go all out and try to find ALL the bonuses of all descriptions and rescue all the creatures. Ive never played a game that was so 'nice' to play before. The music is great - the little creatures sing in their own language and even if the words dont make sense its still very catchy!. I loved all the bouncing around on the springy floors and sliding on the icy slopes and not to mention sticking to the tree branches! its just such a delight to play!.

My parents got it for me on the 2006 christmas and when I opened the present I was over joyed and excited. I really love it because it sweet and REALLY funny and i like it when you hop around and the tilt screen is unique and awsome and it's hard in some places but I've completed every level but haven't done everything on every level so I've alot of searching because each level is massive!!!!
BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pure platforming fun October 16, 2007 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
OK, so many people will disagree with me that this is more of a true platform game than Mario 64 and every, so called, platform game that followed it; these people are, however, wrong!
This is what platform gaming is all about. In recent times games have gone running scared from words like "linear" and "2D" and "short", and whilst running away they've accidentally left "fun" behind too. Being in 3D doesn't makes games better, or more fun, and in many cases makes them overly complex, difficult to control, and, as a result, much less fun. The same can be said for games where you're free to "explore" openly, and which take hours and hours of dedication to complete - there's nothing fun about these things, and, in my opinion, games should be fun, that should be their soul purpose in life, just to be fun.
This game is pure, unashamed, fun. Yeah it's pretty linear, but that's a *good thing*. It means you don't need to spend ages aimlessly wondering round trying to find what to do next, you can just get on with it. Yeah it may be 2D, but it has some of the most luscious and characterful graphics of any game ever, and being in 2D makes it simple to control, and removes the annoying frustrations of many 3D games.
It's also pretty short, but like platform games from the golden ages, this is another good thing. Games didn't used to be designed so that you'd only play them through once. So that being long meant value for money. Value for money used to come from re-playability, where you'd complete a game over and over again, trying to beat your previous score, or time, on number of items collected. Most games these days are so long, and tedious, that you'd never do that. This game isn't, and is fun enough to bring you back to complete more than once.
Everything about this game put a smile on my face, from the graphics, to the music (which is excellently excellent), to the pure, unadulterated, fun of playing it.
Excellent, if short August 4, 2007 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
LocoRoco has gone on to become THE defining PSP game, with it's beautiful Bezier Curve graohics, enchanting music and captivating 2D landscape. Using 3 buttons (O, L, R) you bounce your Roco's throughout the land. Speed is required-you have enemies. And berries.
Although my fellow reviewer may have said it gets hard, there is no difficulty spike. At all. You can finish it in an hour if your good.
It comes bundled with secrets to take your interest other ways, and you can grab some Xmas & Halloween demos off the 'net.
A very good PSP game, if a little too easy.
