Go on, dive in! March 17, 2004 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is not a platform game. This is an alternative world to loose yourself in. To enjoy as you interact with inhabitants and flora and fauna. If you have played Mario games you now the format by now. Although this, like the best Mario's in my opinion, is more of an explorable playground rather than level based progression. the aim being more of discovery than simple copmletion. You guide Mario around this rich universe while helped by various friends, devices and outfits. This is a classic re-incarnation of a game that was great first time around. Go on, dive in! You owe it to yourself.
Mario- why do they love to hate you? February 28, 2004 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
All you people who have given Super Mario World 1 star definately have a problem. As I see it, this game defined the 2D platformer and still delights audiences with its gameplay, going from the easy (Yoshi's Island) to the not-so-easy (Specials, anyone?). The truth is, I have had the game now for 2 years and STILL haven't unlocked everything. It really is THAT big. So many different routes through the game- so non-linear it's scary! If you want a game that truly astounds and challenges you, look no further.

I rated this 5 stars because the game is excellent. Dont bother getting Mario 4 because its a waste of money. All you get is new levels :( so whats the point !!!
AWESOME July 12, 2003 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
All the other people that have rated this game with a one star are idiots and obviously know very little about gameing.I have been a nintendo fan since I was bought my NES and have never faltered since. But i am not a fanboy. Mario World, the main reason you will buy this game, was the last good mario game. Many of the puzzles were inch perfect, which is probably people have previously refered to this game as "frustrating". It is not frustrating it is challenging, also the reason they may refer to it as easy is the way in which luigi is used. In this update Luigi has been given special powers so he can jump and then hover, however the puzzles are the same puzzles designed for the no-hovering mario and so, i suggest that if you want the real challenge of this game you just play as mario. This game is a classic, no other platform game as even come close to equalling its magic and if you do not play it you are missing out on part of gaming history.
Probably the best Super Mario ever ! May 27, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Bowzer is up to his tricks again, and it's up to Mario and Luigi to save Princess Toadstall and the Yoshi Clan. Starting on Yoshi's Island, Mario and Luigi must work there way around Dinosaur Land, Rscuing Yoshi's and, by the end, the Princess. Visiting places such as the Doughnut Plains, the Vanilla Dome and Chocolate Island, Mario and Luigi might just find Star World, and from that, (If your skilled enough) the Special World. The game itself is not very challenging, but the later levels can be a test of skill, and so can many of the secret levels. It's an enjoyable game, and a Mario/Luigi fan will love it.
