THE best! July 7, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Forget all you know about the past Resident Evil series, for me , personally, i didn't enjoy them. They were 2 dimensional, boring and the gameplay (THOSE controls!) aaargh! Push forward to go backwards etc... it drove me mad. I liked the concept and genre, the whole idea behind it, but it just didn't work for me. Until.... Resident Evil 4.
Wow! awesome, just amazing. This is THE best RPG game out there, ever, in my opinion. It has it all, awesome graphics, gameplay and sharp controls, puzzle solving, totally 3 dimensional, an actual storyline and it just TOTALLY submerges you into the game. It has all the atmosphere of a film and all the playablilty you could ever dream of. If you haven't played it, you don't know what you're missing, and by the way, that's a real shame if you love games because this is THE game that surpasses them all!
Exellent but scary July 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all I have to say how much I love this game, my trusty Xbox 360 broke and I can't be bothered to repair it for a while so I bought a second hand Gamecube with the idea of playing the Resident Evil remake costing only 35 altogether with gamecube and brand new RE game. My first impressions of the game were how amazing and realistic the graphics were for a GC game, but then the longer I played it the more scared I became, resulting in me not playing it, or thinking about playing it.
When I was younger I remember watching other people play the original Resident Evil which as a result gave me bad nightmares. So now playing the remake is worse. (although I don't get nightmares anymore) because the graphics are so much better.
All this said, it is one of the greatest games I've ever played, maybe one day I'll pluk up the courage to complete it! Be ready for what lurks around the corner!
I love this game. July 3, 2007 Having never played the original, I decieded to play Resident evil. Not only did it change my perspective of the game, it actually made quiet appreciate the game. You begin in a Mansion and thats where the fun begin. You need solve puzzles, fight bosses and of course zombies. The setting and atmosphere is amazing but what stunned me was the graphics. The graphics in my opinion were better than Resident evil 4. The backgrounds are pre-rendered but they build up the atmosphere. I really enjoyed this game.
Oh my Lord... June 11, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a good game! I used to be far too scared to play anything like this...but me and a friend sat down one day, whacked this on...shrieked at a few zombies...were reduced to trembling wrecks at some points...went slightly insane when there was a creepy sound...and pontificated about the puzzles. Anyway...the graphics are amazing for an old game on the gamecube...especially the water animations. Usually pre-rendered backgrounds would annoy me, but here it all adds to the atmosphere. It gets a little bit repetetive sometimes when you're wandering around the mansion wondering what in god's name you're meant to do. But then a window smashes and you brick yourself as a hunter leaps on you...funny stuff. It's a good game to play with other people...as a group. There are a few gripes: when you have a full inventory and you really want that item to make the room green but the item box is all the way at the other end of the area ARGH...and when you want to open a door but you have to position yourself nicely. Overall though...I'm loving it. Even if I am too scared to play at the moment.
A worthy remake March 23, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The original Resident Evil was groundbreaking. Playing the Zombie B-movie genre for all its worth, it used shocks, scary music and scarce ammo to make the player genuinely scared. However, the Playstation and Saturn original versions do look quite dated these days. This Gamecube remake is the perfect way to enjoy the original game without the frustrations of the limitations of the older consoles.
If you want to know where it all started or are just a fan of good, well put together survival horror games, you can't go wrong with this remake of the original classic.
