 Perfect Solution to importing problems July 18, 2005

When I bought Freeloader it was ages ago so that I could play the US release of Animal Crossing. I put the freeloader disc in, then put in the Animal Crossing disc and...the "Nintendo" came up blue instead of red and the screen was black but I could hear the title screen music. However after replacing the freeloader disc, pressing the [ Z ] button and selecting the US region it worked perfectly! Since then I have used my freeloader often and I have had no problems. My memory card data was corrupted though when I mixed US and UK formats so I would not recommend others make the same mistake. It's a little expensive for memory cards from this point of view since I now have 1 card for US games, 1 card for Japanese games and a few for UK games ;-) Overall though I think this is a great way to play import games without the expense of actually having your console chipped. I highly recommend this for anyone who wishes to import a game!!! Great product!

Whilst on holiday in America, I was amazed to see how cheap GC games and accessories were. I bought 6 GC games and when I got back I ordered a Freeloader. All my 6 American import games work perfectly so i've saved lots of money and can play games that aren't even out in the UK. Freeloader is well worth the money and very simple to use. It gives the GC a high advantage over other consoles as the warranty is still intact. Don't hesitate - BUY IT!!!

I absolutely love the Freeloader, its so simple to use and should work with nearly all US & Japanese games. I must admit I only own 1 US Gamecube game but I still wanted to get the Freeloader just incase a title should come along and not get released in Europe (Animal Crossing being a prime example of this, at least for now). There are a few issues with Japanese memory cards and with their incompatability with formatting them etc but the instructions clearly state how to go about doing this. This is by far the best and easiest device I've ever come across that lets you play foreign games without the hassle of having to re-wire anything or tweak the inside of your console. I remember in the early days with the N64's import players in which you had to do the odd tweaking eher & there which totally put me off. But thanks to this ingenious device theres no worry of your Gamecube screwing up in any way. My only slight gripe is when you've finished playing your game & when you go back to switch your gamecube on you have to constantly keep changing discs everytime you do that. But for a disc thats so simple to use and can work on nearly all Gamecube games, I dont see it as a major bother when you look at it in the long run.

Let's get this straight first:Datel offer no guarentees that it'll run all the new games (which some of the ignorant people below fail to notice). It says above that it may not be compatable with all the new games, and it has a couple of problems with F-Zero, but then again, the UK release is already out. However, most new titles such as Donkey Konga, work absolutely fine. =) Whoever said that they need to buy a new one whenever they update it, is again, ignorant. On Datel's website, when a new version is released, you can send your existing Freeloader to Datel, and they'll exchange it free of charge for the latest version. That's customer service for you! I use Donkey Konga, Ikaruga and Animal Crossing regularly on mine, I recommend you buy this now!

Great item, I was skeptical about it first. But no it works fine, no problem. The only thing i dont know how to speak japanese!! But does not matter the japanese version are the best ones, better sound, no alteration on characters that can be find in the american and european version.
