4 out of 5 stars Hardware specs, so what   October 29, 2005

Its not about whats under the hood of the XBox 360 or the PS3, I work with PC's and you can take two identical specs and get massively different performance.
In my house we are massive XBox Live fans so the 360 is on order, Microsoft have done what they always do in any market, come late and throw their resources at it to catch up. The XBox didn't supercede the PS2 but with XBox Live I think they found the killer app.
Why would you want to come out on top of the AI in Halo2 when you can play against 15 real people and talk to them in real time, you can't beat that. The early previews of what Live is going to be post 360 look amazing and will certainly hold its own in our house.
The PS3 will have a Sony die hard following so won't die but I think Sony will have much more of a fight on their hands this time round.

5 out of 5 stars PS3 Xbox 360 or revolution   October 29, 2005

To be honest its going to either be the 360 or the ps3 that will win the big fight between the 3rd gen consoles. I think nintendo should give up they lost to the ps one years ago and have lost ever since. We don't need another gimmicky tacky thing the ds for example is loaded with useless things such as a touch screen which tries to draw in customers, however it does not really have much effect when the graphics are compared to the psp's. The shock introduction of the revolutions controllers shapped like a remote controll for a tv is enough to put me straight off the revolution. However the other two consoles look original and exciting;

PS3 and the xbox 360;
The ps3 is going to be obviously the most powerful out of the 3, however having all this power can be a technological downfall as many producers of games and aprently one allready have said that they will not be producing games on the ps3 due to the complicated hardware. One of the most amazing things about the ps3 will be the new "cell" processor. This is not only one of the fastest chips being made at the moment for consoles but is one of the fastest micro processors ever made as the proto- type chip has reached speeds of an incredible 5.2 gig. however this will be capped to 3.2 gig as this much processing speed is not needed and it requires alot of power to run things at that speed. As for the 360 the processing speed will be exactly the same, this could be aparent too for the graphics as the graphics cards are both made by the same company for both consoles meaning the graphics could be almost identical. On paper the ps3 sounds better but if you were to look at the two on a tv then i dout there will be a huge difference between things like graphics or loading times. The consoles seem to have made a switch as the xbox 360 the less powerful of the two is coming out first which i think could help it alot in the market and the ps3 the more powerful is coming out alot later. Isnt this exactly the oppostie of the xbox and ps2 and in that race the ps2 won as it came out first, however back then sony where the biggest name in gaming because of the psone and now that microsoft are just as big i think its going to be very close.

5 out of 5 stars 360 is Psp compatible   October 16, 2005

The audience bellowed when Microsoft showed PSP as a connectivity device for the Xbox 360 on a slide during their Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference, but it wasn't just laughs.

The PSP connects to Xbox 360 like any other USB device, and once the machine recognizes the PSP, you're able to browse stored images at full screen and stream MP3 files stored on the memory stick. That's the extent of the PSP/Xbox 360 connectivity, but you can't do anything like that with your PlayStation.

Including support for PSP at all is a humorous (and respectful) nod from the company constantly bashed by critics and courts for unfairly alienating competition in various markets. True as that might be, in this case, Microsoft's the first kid on the block with hardware natively supporting PSP's multimedia functions.

5 out of 5 stars X-Box 360 vs PS3 and the Nintendo Reveloution   October 11, 2005

Well, this is the can of worms everyone is talking about.

To all those XBox and Sony fanboys out there I have some shocking news for you. There will be very little difference in performance between the two systems.

Sure on paper PS3 will seem the more powerful machine, but it will be a nightmare to make games for due to the complex architecture of the hardware. In fact i have heard one rumour that Team Ninja (creators of the Dead or Alive series) wont be developing for PS3 for this reason.

The thing that will really make the difference will be games and console features. As X360 is out first it will have a head start over everything else out there. The games on release are looking pretty cool too.

Plus, for 279, the X-Box comes with XBox live Silver membership which will give you limited access to XBox live online play and a hard drive, so you dont have to keep shelling out 30 for new memory cards when your others are full of saves you can't bear to delete.

I think Sony have taken their stanglehold on the market for granted and if they don't pull a few tricks out of the bag they could be in for a nasty surprise.

As for the Nintendo "Reveloution" I'm not too sure. They just don't know where to stop the innovation. They're designing a new controller that will "Reveloutionise" the way people play games. Sod that. The GameCube controller was great. It fit in you hands, unlike the gigantic X-Box monster controller and you could reach all the buttons with little effort, unlike the tiny, boxy and oh so un-ergonomic PlayStation Dualshock controller.

At last the first next gen console is nearly upon us!

with a teraflop of floating core power I think we all know what santa is gunna be bringing us this year.

Its great that microsoft has listened to what its customers want, Customise, Customise, Customise whist having more power than a steam roller powered by lucazade.

As the first next gen out there its got a lot to prove but from first glances at looks like its done more than enough already!
