5 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant.   January 26, 2008

Got this product for x-mas and I love it. The two screens makes it more enteraining and fun. There are variety of games available on the DS so suits different people. Its easy to use and does not weigh anything at all. Easy to handle.

The touch screen is an extra bonus for games like brain training. Over all really pleased with tis product and will recommend it for children and adults. It can be played by all.

4 out of 5 stars Great fun for all, but don't discount the PSP   January 23, 2008

I was one of the fortunate people who managed to obtain one of these for my son for christmas. Shame on Nintendo for underestimating the market for all their products this christmas. My 6 year old son absolutely adores it and seems to handle the changes between button and touch screen operation really easily. Far better than I do anyway! The machine is well designed although the shiny finish does show up finger prints very easily. It's light, the battery life is excellent and there are many games available including some pretty educational titles. I do worry about that stylus causing scratches on the touch screen though and so installed a screen protector straight away.

There are a few reviews here comparing this with the PSP, but I think that it is like comparing your TV with a PC monitor. They may appear to do a similar job, but they are very different beasts. I think the DS with its folding design is more instantly portable than the PSP, which requires a case, but on the whole I prefer the much bigger single widescreen on the PSP, the analogue stick for control, and the far, far better graphics. I have owned a PSP for a couple of years now and can now directly compare the two. In my experience, there is nothing to choose between them on battery life. Having FIFA 08 on both machines, the contrast between the two is very clear in the graphics and data department. My son was most disappointed that the sponsors were missing from the shirts and that he couldn't play at Wembley. I enjoy sport and driving games which are definitely superior on the PSP. I also enjoy puzzles and strategy games such as brain training, sim city and theme park which are definitely better to play on the DS. To be honest, I can make a justifiable case for owning both rather than either one of them. My son though would not swap his DS for anything in the world.

5 out of 5 stars an excellent piece of equipment   January 8, 2008

I'd looked at these at various times since their release and finally the time was right.

The DS Lite is a wonderful piece of equipment - it's two screens is a new thing to me but it is easy to use after only a couple of uses.

The most telling thing about the DS Lite is the number of games and training packages which have become available over the months that it has been available. So many available, but which to choose. The release has been well thought out.

I use the DS Lite for Brain Training. It's a nice size with large, clear screens and, thankfully, volume control and headphone socket.

One problem is the possibility of losing the stylus. If you get into the habit of replacing it in it's slot rather than putting it down between uses then you're less likely to lose it. Of course mistakes happen and they are lost, but they are easily replaceable, and not overly expensive.

5 out of 5 stars A Handheld For All Ages!!   January 4, 2008

I got one of these for Christmas, I'm 23 and got the same present as my 4 year old nephew. But that's the beauty of the Nintendo DS it really is for all ages. There's no way my 4 year old nephew would be able to use or enjoy something like a PSP and similarly my 50 year old mother. The range of games is 2nd to non, from things like looking after a dog or a pony, to retro action with a true Super Mario Brothers, to sports games like Fifa 2008, to the ever popular Brain Training games, there really is something for everyone no matter how old or how young you are.
The DS Lite is so easy to just pick up and use anywhere and I haven't know a battery like it, it seems to last forever once fully charged. I highly recommend one of these to gamers and non gamers alike, no matter what the age there should be something for you!!!
