5 out of 5 stars Great fun   July 2, 2008
The graphics are amazing on directx 10 with everthing on full, and I'm amazed at how soothly the engine runs througout, and I'm taking console-like smooth. Not sure about the stealth aspect. Most of the time when playing it I feel like Sir Lancelot the Brave from the Life of Brian, hacking through anything that comes across my path, including any inccocent bystanders that happen get in the way. Some of the fights also become comical-which is great: on one occasion an enemy was just about to stike me with his sword, when another enemy archer cut him down by accident from range. Now all that needs to happen is for Bioware to use the same graphics engine in their next RPG epic.

Edit - I've also just found out that alot of copies of this game can crash when you try to enter Jerusalem, due to three corrupt files, which mine just has. Whilst there isn't an official patch out yet that will fix this, you can download a torrent containing the workng files.

4 out of 5 stars A role playing game which isn't bad   June 30, 2008

I hate role playing games, walk here there & everywhere, mix this potion that potion, blah blah, when I realised I had bought a rpg I was horrified, I gave it a go though & I quite liked it. Huge maps, great graphics, nice little tasks to do, nothing to bore you stupid, you can warp to the next location etc. Good fighting scenes, handy weapons, not bad at all. It is very monotonous you can't skip long drawn out chats at the end of each task or after each assassination, or when you leave the time machine thing, pretty slow at times etc but I just turned it down & walked away until it had finished rambling on & on. I did stick with this game & finish it, something I don't do that often as I get tired of the games with little to keep you with it, at the end of this I was struggling hard & nearly gave up but I saw it through & I'm glad it's done. As far as it being a console game I didn't really notice as I have done with all the 'other games for tight people who won't buy a pc' games I have played. Why game developers worry about 300 console owners over 3000 pc owners I have no idea, there are far more pc's in the world & their owners are far more seriuos about games.

5 out of 5 stars Love it   June 29, 2008
All I want from my games is to be engaged and entertained and this does that in spades! I'm only four levels in now but still loving it. The game's beautiful, and the storyline is fairly engaging. Game play is easy enough to get the hang of, but may be better with a gamepad controller rather than keyboard/mouse.

If your PC meets the specs (which admittedly are a bit hefty) then buy this, you won't be sorry.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing   June 9, 2008

To start I will have to praise Ubisoft for making games such as this, and making it look so good, so thanks for that Ubisoft.
However even that cannot save this game for me. It starts off as great entertainment, especially with the astounding graphics. Running from rooftop to rooftop, jumping off buildings, running up walls and so on. The combat sequences with the guards too are brilliant fun, for a while. Even your first few missions seem really good.
Then, after you have played the first sections of each city, and are on the second sections, it all becomes too samey, with little variety, not much to actually "do". You end up becoming sick of saving citizens and scholars, because its always the same, repeated over and over again.
Even the running across the rooftops and jumping from buildings becomes boring. You start to wish that there was a little more to it then just holding down a mouse button and 2 keys.
Theres no real exploring as such, okay you do uncover parts of the maps with the viewpoints, but there are no buildings to sneak into or anything.
The viewpoints also start out as an irresistible challenge, but after your 10th one that becomes boring too.
There should have a lot more to this game than there actually is, its just too empty. Even the impressively huge throngs of people in the crowds cannot stop it feeling empty. Where are the animals? Surely there would have been all sorts of animals in the streets, at markets or carrying loads etc.. There are no birds either really, only the viewpoint eagles and the leap of faith pigeons.
Then I start to notice little flaws with the graphics at this point, mainly because I am steadily starting to dislike this game.
Sad really because initially this game blew me away.

2 out of 5 stars Takes 5 min's to quit the thinq, and the Cut scenes are a pain in the but.   May 20, 2008

The combat system is just isn't, the cut scenes are a pain, and the game takes 5 min's to quit.
