4 out of 5 stars Prepare to lose track of time and see the chores stack up   February 11, 2008

These games are great and VERY addictive. I first bought 42 All time Classics but didn't find much in there to hold my interest so got this instead. It is a collection of generally simple puzzle games with very nice graphics and presentation. There are more games on here that I like than I don't like and I think liking >50% is not bad. My favourite is Gem Slide and the Yahzee-like games (they are not the same but similar and fun). I have to leave the DS plugged into the adaptor all the time now and put a clock next to me to make sure I go to bed the 'good' side of midnight!
It loses one star because it is difficult to see the card stacks on some of the games (like the Freecell copy) and if you can't see what the stacks are then it is impossible to play. Also the Trivia is wasted on this sort of compilation and is very American.

3 out of 5 stars Why set a time limit for everything?   January 24, 2008

I love playing puzzle/card games, and there are enough of them in this package to keep me entertained for hours.

However, I have one major gripe which has effected both the fun and the overall rating of this game, namely that every single game is timed. This includes card games like solitaire and powercell (freecell). The more challenging of these games will take longer and more brain power to solve, but all the games are given the same amount of time to complete. Admittedly you can still go on an complete the games once the clock has stopped ticking but you cannot continue adding to the tally of consequetively successfully completed games. This has detracted from the fun, because instead of feeling rewarded for completing a particularly difficult puzzle, I am penalised as the run automatically ceases. These are traditional card games which were never intended to be against the clock, and I feel this aspect of the game in Touchmaster should not be there either.

The loss of the other overall star is because the graphics are quite poor. In Powercell, for instance, it is very difficult to see the run of cards because the graphics are too tiny and a little blurred. If you have less than perfect close vision, you will struggle with this game.

I was bought this game by my husband for christmas and i have to agree with everyone else it is so adictive not only do i play it my husband and children do too. Two of my friends have played it and have both bought it now. The games are easy to play and not compicated.
He bought mine from a leading supermarket for 17.99 and it was worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Games Package   January 17, 2008
Having had this game for a few months now, I find it is the one that tends to be found left in the DS most often. It features an excellent selection of games, divided into the categories Cards, Skill and Puzzle.
Some of the games were unfamiliar to me, but the majority are very enjoyable and some of them, such as Pairs (in which one has to eliminate balls of matching number on a Pool table) or Gemslide (you have to line up matching jewels in a box to make them vanish) are hideously addictive.
Some games are deceptively simple, such as Mahki, which features a field of coloured squares, which can be eliminated by touching groups of one colour. The blocks above fall down to fill the gaps. The aim is to eliminate as many blocks as possible without leaving any single blocks behind in order to progress to the next level. One finds oneself having to plan one's moves in advance to try and work out where the ensuing blocks will fall. It's fiendishly compulsive.
There's also a decent selection of Solitaire games, and an amphibian version of Checkers (Draughts, for those of us on the civilised side of the Atlantic where they know how to name games properly) where frogs are your pieces on an animated board of lily pads. Awwww!
As has been pointed out by another reviewer, the Trivia (which is a kind of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' multiple choice answer quiz) and Wordz (which is the same format as the 'Wheel of Fortune' show) are so Americocentric that many players outside the US will have no clue what the answers may be unless they are experts in American soaps and quiz shows. Surely it would not have taken much to adapt these two items for a British release.
Having said that, this is a minor quibble about a seriously entertaining package of games. Well recommended.

I have had this game for many months now and am still playing it on a (almost) daily basis. The many choices and styles of games keep you playing hour after hour. I would definately recommend this.
