THE MUTTS NUTS!!!! March 14, 2008 This game is amazing in every way, i cannot believe its getting 1star from gamers!! they must be crap at the game & just cant play it!! i have finished the game on veteran & yes some of the levels are very difficult but hey you are playing on HARD!!!
Awesome! March 13, 2008 for all the deluded people who gave this game a one star your either completely bonkers or your in the middle of designing the worlds best fps, this game has amazing next gen graphics for the size of the game, the multiplayer is brilliantly done (only downside being the host leaving while your thrashing them therefor ending the game). This has to be the best game currently available on the 360 if not every platform. it has gotten gamespots game of the year award for PS3 and PC and seeing as the game is exactly the same on every format they had to be mad not to give it overall game of the year(which they did). Single player will last you hours, people complain about the game being too hard on veteran (i myself have completed 75% on veteran including mile high club) and if thats too hard just do the next one down which is only slightly less challenging but still amazing fun and completly worth just buying for the single player. The only let down i could see is the lack of online acheivements as they are all single player which is very good for any offline gamers. go get it now! lol
Good Game but WTF March 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is basically good but has some ridiculous problems in multiplayer: 1) there seems to be homing grenades which bounce of a series of wall before landing at your feet. 2) When you decide to start a match, most of the time you start in a middle of one which your team is losing by serveral hundred points or is just about to lose. 3) When you do respawn you do it most of the time either next to the enemy or in the middle of a shoot out. 4) The ranking systems retarded, its done on how much you play not how good you are. But otherwise good
Amazingly fun for fairly small content March 9, 2008 COD4 does deserve much of the praise sent its way in the last few months. It is a highly polished and very slick shooter. The single-player campaign has a variety to the missions that puts other shooters (Halo) to shame. You'll fight through urban warzones, sneak through the suburbs, take part in an assassination mission, man the guns of a AC-130 Spectre gunship, and more. Everything looks great and has a rich level of detail.
Online play is also a lot of fun and surprisingly addictive. A nice selection of maps come boxed with more being available as (free?) DLC in 2008. A leveling system means not everything is available to you from the get-go, so there is a benefit to learning to use different weapons. Completing challenges and winning games allows you to unlock perks (power-ups), weapons, and camo patterns as you go. When you reach max level there is an incentive to start from level 1 again.
All in all, a great game. Having said that, it is actually also a fairly slim game. The single player campaign is really short, more like a feature length of a good TV show than an epic movie. Online play can also start to feel repetitive after a while. No Achievements in online play means ranking up to unlock more gold weapons every time you clock it is the major incentive for a lot of players. With Halo 3 releasing more DLC soon and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on the way, COD4 may not keep its number 1 spot on Live for much longer. Neither mode can be played in true 1080p either, but they still look lovely anyway.
Overall though, this is still probably the best fps on market. There are plenty of 'Wow!' moments and the ranking system is so well implemented you won't even realise you're actually playing for the same rewards again and again. (In this respect COD4 has become more like an MMO than any fps before it) Definitely worth a punt.
Kill Em' All March 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't do this game justice but this is what I've enjoyed so far...........
You've just emptied half a clip from your AK into some stinking revolutionary. He's been trying to blow you to bits with his RPG and now lies on the ground bleeding, although he isn't quite dead (YET). He tries to raise his pistol in your direction to end your life and even squeezes off a couple of shots in your direction. You whip round (with a didn't I just kill you look) and pump him full of lead until your AK clicks with an empty chamber. You've done your job, he's dead, you grin like a child and move on to help kill his 10,000 mates.
Learning note. Make sure they're dead. Shot them while they lie on the ground, its so much fun.
I can't say anything else about this game that hasn't been said already. It is pure action from start to finish and is one of the most satisfying games I've played in years.
