It's Orange April 13, 2008 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
The only reason I purchased this game was because I thought it was going to be Karl Pilkington's head in a box, sadly it wasn't. Which actually was a bonus as this game doesn't moan even half as much as Karl. Bonus.
A shame that Team Fortress 2 is broken April 5, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Orange Box contains Half Life 2, plus the current two plot extensions: Episodes 1 and 2. It also contains Portal and Team Fortress 2.
There's plenty of detailed reviews here for the Orange Box and I don't want to repeat what's already been said. I thought the whole package was very good. I especially liked Portal's dry humour and Team Fortress 2 (TF2) has clearly had a lot of time spent on it and is a great multiplayer game.
However I've deducted one star from the review because of TF2's network-related issues. It suffers badly from lag. A recent patch (released late March 2008 via Xbox Live) restricts the number of players to between 8 and 16 based on the host's bandwidth in an attempt to combat this, but even with Virgin Media's XL broadband package (up to 20mbps download, 768kbps upload) I'm unable to reliably host more than 10 players.
While 4v4 multiplayer gaming is pretty much the norm for Xbox I was hoping for larger online games and TF2 appeared to promise this. Unfortunately it fails to deliver.

Wonderful ideas and brilliantly set out, if only valve were bigger they would be the best. Loved the song at the end of Portal

I've been a fan of the Half Life series since the first game on the PC and this box set is a fantastic addition to the series. The intelligent and twisting story line creates a really engaging and enjoyable game requiring both skill and brains as the usesual Half-Life puzzles and twisted sense of humour exists in all the episodes making a what is a well round and totaly immerssive FPS that will keep you guessing.
Portal is an interesting addition to the series and is not at all what it seems. It requires at lot of brain work and is highly addictive. Portal takes the best of Half-lifes' clever puzzles w/o the shooting. I haven't been able to put this down as it is a refreshing change. The basics of Portal is a FPS style game where your character has to make her way through a series of 19 3D puzzles by creating a pair of portals to make her ways through the environment and often requires some interesting lateral thinking to solve the problems.
Team Fortress 2 is an online FPS which is provides varied game play with an assortment of maps and objectives. Interesting weapons fast and intense non stop game play which can't be taken seriously which is ideal for those whose doesn't want/like the serious game play of many online FPS.
Over all I highly recommend this box set as is provides a varied mix of FPS, intelligent game play, plenty of humour, and fantastic and immersive story line which definately makes the game one of my all time favourite FPS.
