It's a game to play - with other people May 26, 2008 I've seen many people complaining about the price of the game, but if 4 people chip in and swap instruments around between songs, it'll be some of the best fun you've had with a games console.
Brilliant but pricey May 26, 2008 This is a genius idea and a whole lot of fun, but why spend so much money?? Zavvi have it and anyone can play! it's a great laugh and everyone joins in! even the staff! so that's where i'll be playing until the price comes down!
Best Music Game Ever ! May 26, 2008 Thought I'd base my review on the actual game instead of the price like most other people ! Harmonix are without doubt the kings of music games and this picks up where Guitar Hero 2 left off . Gameplay pretty much follows the standard scrolling note format for guitar bass and drums and uses a system similar to singstar for the vocals - all of which work really well and there are 4 skill levels to suit all abilities - everyone from newbies to Guitar Hero veterans can have fun with this ! Get some mates round to play the band world tour mode and it's possibly the most fun you'll have with your 360 - the single player career mode is certainly enjoyable too but not as in depth - the fact that you can't play world tour on your own is perhaps the only disappointment . Vastly improved graphics , loads of downloadable content and full compatibility with guitar hero guitars (360 only) round off a very impressive package . Yes it is expensive if you buy the whole kit in one go from scratch , but for a game this good it's actually worth the asking price for once .

I hope EA are looking at these reviews, this comments page is almost turning into a forum. I refuse to pay 140 for this when you can buy a brandnew xbox 360 with hard drive and 4 games for 159. Who are the idiots?? I think the only people that could comfortably afford this is a premiership footballer.
Pricing is a big issue, but still a great game... May 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
There are already plenty of comments about pricing so I want to quickly get it out of the way that I agree that it's a rip off.
Personally I think if you want this game you should consider what instruments you may already have, e.g. I already have a Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul controller, and a Live headset which allows you to do vocals (just plug into a seperate controller). The drums would be nice but I already have 2 out of 4 instruments and will only playing on my own anyway so I'm happy with that. I may buy the drums someday if they go down in price. Therefore I only bought the game disc.
Even playing on my own as lead guitarist I found this game brilliant, as much fun as previous Guitar Hero games - to me in that sense I'm looking at it as basically a really big song pack, which is no bad thing. I think most people could get a lot of fun out of this game just doing the same thing. Unfortunately you are missing out the game's main selling point playing this way, which is why I have marked it down slightly.
For a truly amazing solo experience however, make sure you setup your guitar as player 1, then connect either a generic USB microphone or a controller with the Live headset plugged in (you DON'T need an official Rock Band microphone to do vocals) as player 2, download the Oasis song pack, and play "Don't Look Back In Anger" as both lead guitarist and lead singer - simply awesome!!!
Hopefully someday I will get the chance to play the game as it was meant to be, with all the instruments and a full band. For now though (and for anyone in a similar position to me) I would recommend Rock Band as an excellent game and well worth getting!!!
