World of Warcraft has become famous, and in some circles infamous, for being a highly addictive game. This pack contains both the original game and the first expansion, giving you full access to the game. Also included are Strategy Guides for both games, which is a very welcome addition.
Amazon currently sells the base game and the expansion for 9.98 each, making this pack cheaper to buy, plus you get the guides throw in effectively for free making it a very worthwhile buy.
If you've never played WoW before then I suggest heading to their website, where they offer a 10 day trial. Make the most of those 10 days to get a feel for the different races and classes, then buy this pack to continue playing for the best price.
Apparently, WoW has over 7 million registered users. That many people can't be wrong, so give it a go and see if you don't enjoy it yourself.

Although as people above have said that this is a great game, i would recommend playing this in moderation. I played this for about 2 years, and if you get too hooked, especially if you raid, your social life is affected. But for newcomers, i would recommend this game, i've played a lot of RPG but this was my first MMO, and its definately worth the price.

WoW is the world's most popular online RPG. If you're wondering whether to try it, I say 'go for it'. Read the rave reviews on the product pages for the game and the Burning Crusade, and believe the hype. It is as rich and varied as people say it is.
I would hesitate to recommend buying this pack though. Although it seems like a bargain price, the game, the expansion, and guides to both, for around 25, I am suspicious of the inclusion of the books.
UNLESS both have been extensively revised in recent months, and I have not heard anything to this effect, they will both be largely irrelevant.
I bought the guide to the Burning Crusade expansion pack a few days after its release. Because of the constant 'tuning' process inherent in MMO's, and introduction of new content to keep the game fresh, the book was largely irrelevant within a few months. I can only imagine how much the guide to WoW itself must be dated by now.
A lot of the basic information will still be accurate - guides to geography and lore for example. But anything with numbers involved, i.e. spells and abilities, loot attributes, has most likely been changed several times since the books were published. There is also a huge amount of new content in the worlds of Azeroth and Outland that will not be in the books.
So, not to say they are totally useless, but you might find yourself scratching your head a few times wondering why the descriptions given in the guides do not match what you are seeing on your screens.
My advice - buy WoW and the Burning Crusade separately, you can get them for less than 20 in the shops nowadays, and get your information on quests and so on from tha intawebz. Most of this stuff tends to get put through the tubes pretty quickly so save yourself a bit of cash.

This is a great deal for a great game.
world of warcraft is a really great game that you WILL get hooked on.
This battlechest is a great deal for those who havn't played the game yet.
It gives you a chance to make a few characters and possibly get them to level 70 (the current level cap) before the new expansion, wrath of the lich king, comes out in january.
In my opinion it is a smart buy.
