Perhaps I am too old April 6, 2008 1 out of 18 found this review helpful
I gave this up and never got past the first screen, Although it is clever it is all about speed and too fast for me.
Monkey Island???? April 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Firstly I would like to say that I love puzzle solving role playing games. I bought this game based on previous reviewers saying it was much like Monkey Island which was fantastic. This is not Monkey Island. In Monkey Island you have reasonable scope to roam around collect items etc, solving puzzles is immersing and you can use something you found in one area to do things in another. Zack and Wiki is not like this. In Zack and Wiki there is no roaming around you go through level after level solving puzzles, some are very interesting and others are very repetitive.
The graphics of the game were one of the major attractions to the game for me. I love the cartoon style graphics just what I bought a Wii for. The cut scenes are entertaining and vibrant and the sound effects are nothing to sneer at either.
One major problem is the old demon of the Wii remote and its lack of responsiveness to many movements. This for me was a major hassle is some parts of the game, primarily in the timed bits where you are say falling from a cliff and you need to grab something and do something with it. This can be enormously frustrating as the Wii remote may not react to your movement and you will lose a life. Still this is a minor quibble, the main problem for me was the repetitiveness of some of the puzzles and the lack of engagement I felt. In games like monkey island and broken sword when your not solving puzzles there is other things to do which makes a refreshing break. No such luck in Zack and Wiki.
All in all a bit above average I would give three and a half stars if I could. Buy it if you have the money to spend but it isnt a must have.
FANTASTIC GAME!! March 29, 2008 this is one of those very special games that only come out once in a while
if you dont buy it then capcom may feel that their game hasnt done well, and wont make quality titles for the wii again!!
and this is an utter shame becuase everyone is too busy buying SHOVEL-WARE such as that god forsaken carnival game.
anyway
the game is flawless
its fun for everyone, colourful looks for the kids and stimulating puzzles for the adults.
please do yourself a favour and buy this game. you wont regret it.
then go and buy mario galaxy, zelda twilight princes, no more heroes, metroid prime 3 and batallion wars 2
Perfect Family Entertainment March 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hours of fun for the all the family.
My 6-year old just loves this. She can play the game and solve the puzzles (with a little help from mum and dad, of course). The puzzles are challenging but progress is steady and we all looked forward to a pre-bedtime blast of Zak & Wiki.
It has taken a few weeks, but we've "completed" the game only to find out that we can repeat adventures and find new, hidden treasures. Excellent - the entertainment persists.
If you loved the old Lucasarts adventure games, you'll love this. I did.
Please buy!!! March 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
personally im not usually someone who goes for puzzle games of most sorts but i gave this a try and i think its really great!!! it may look more of a kids game but its challenging, fun and takes ages to work out. its been in my wii for ages now and im addicted to it. it uses the wii remote in really imaginative ways to solve puzzles and is probably one of my most favourite games. and thats saying lot. its also got a load of replay value!!!
and the only bad thing is that its not getting the attention is deserves! its a true hidden gem and my whole family loves it. if you dont give this a try, you're missing out on something very special. its possibly the game that shows what the wii can actually do. so go and buy it now. you will not be disappointed.
