great but games woulf be nice. May 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
i had an xbox a few months back which was great. loads of games, xbox live etc.. but something was missing. so i sold my xbox and bought this. built in wi-fi, free online, i was easily persuaded. while the game library is not that broad, behold games are coming this year!!!! well i'm satisfied with my purchase. for argument's sake, the ps3 is the better machince compared to xbox which has the best software (at present). PS3 should reign supreme in the end!!!!!
wow buy one now May 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
having owned a ps2 in the past and an x box 360 i can say setting up the playstation 3 for the first time it oozes quality its far better looking than the x box and hopefully it wont break down like my 360 and boy is it quiet when you are used to the aeroplane noise of the 360 ,the controller isnt vibrating like the 360 but it is the good old shape we all know and love,it updated the blu ray capabilitys when i registered it online took about 3 mins so now i have version 2.35 to get the most out of blu ray ,i have a sony lcd tv and with the hdmi cable (sold seperately)the picture and sound quality is fantastic ,i will say when i bought the x box i thought it couldnt get any better but boy was i wrong if you are not sure what console to buy get a ps3 you will not be disappointed
The one for the future May 17, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
So far so ordinary. To be honest nothing really stands out in the PS3 library that would make you want to own it (MGS4 should be fab though). But, and here's the real but, you need to own it because this beast of a console will be around for a long while. The games will only improve as the programmers learn how to actually use its ridiculous power. And when those games finally do come there will be no stopping it.
As others have mentioned, the 40GB is missing backwards compatibility so you can no longer play PS2 games, which is a shame considering the huge PS2 library, but then again the 40GB uses more advanced technology to make it quieter and more stable than the other versions. It also looks beautiful, looking far more like a futuristic next-gen machine than either the Xbox 360 or the Wii.
You can also play Blu-ray films, which look better and have more features than regular DVDs. Again, this is a feature for the future as the Blu-ray library is not that big at the moment.
What I don't like is having to install games on the hard-drive which takes so long it's like playing on the Spectrum again. You could probably make ten cups of tea while GTA IV is installing! But, if you run out of hard disk space, you could always upgrade it with a notebook one.
Overall, though, this machine feels like something important, feels like it's just getting started and the true measure of its greatness is yet to come.

Again, Amazon delivering perfectly every requirement, speed, quality and a good price to boot!
Thanks Amazon and keep up the good work.
Use of HDNL courier very much appreciated as have 100% record with them, no problems.
As for the PS3; outstanding.
I was at first slightly sceptical and regretting not purchasing an xbox 360. However i had researched thouroughly and the PS3, on paper, fitted my needs better. It has not disappointed. Only time will tell how well it fairs for reliablity, but for now, i couldn't be happier.
Recommended Games (download the demo from (free) PS Store and try them, I love them: SKATE, Burnout Paradise, NFL Madden 2008, GTAIV, Smackdown vs. Raw 2008.

The PS3 is excellent such an improvement on the PS2. It is more expensive than the others but you get Blueray included and I think it is well worth the money. I can't compare it to the 360 as I have never played on one, but rest assurred you will not be disappointed if you purchase a PS3. Would recommend getting a HDMI lead but dont spend more than 20 unless you have more money than sence.
