Value for money? YES October 9, 2007 8 out of 14 found this review helpful
299 for the new 40gb PS3 represents great value, although the 60gb is only 50 more you need to remember that the real saving is much more, 425 was the original price, which many were still paying just weeks ago. so what do you get/loose: you get a top end, full HD, Blu-ray playing, cutting edge games machine. You loose 20gb, which for me would make no difference as my 60gb machine has already had its drive replaced for a 160gb which you will need to make this your entertainment hub. You also loose 2 USB sockets, but a few quid later and you have as many as you like with a multi-USB adapter - problem solved. so if your still not sure just check out the games list over christmas.....now at 299 there is no excuse to be left behind.
This is NOT good value for money October 9, 2007 18 out of 29 found this review helpful
This 40Gb model is NOT good value for money. The 60GB comes with two 'free' games and this has none, even if you value those games at 20 a piece(29.99 average individual selling price), the difference between the two conoles comes to 10, plus the 40GB model has only two USB ports not four, no memory card slots; which a lot of people (including myself) won't use, no ps2 support, and no ethernet (according to some sites). If this model cost 249 or even 279 then it would be good value for money. REMEMBER PEOPLE not only are you losing funtionality but you are also losing a couple of games for the sake of 50! Games including; Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Ridge Racer 7, Resistance, Formula One and Genji.
BARGIN October 9, 2007 13 out of 20 found this review helpful
come on people the ps3 is the best system around and there hardly any diffeences in this model then the premieum one.
2 less usb ports- not really vital no memory crad readers- again not really esential for the ps3 expierence no ps2 backwards compatibility- ot essentail, i mean do u really buy a ps3 to play ps2 games,- i dint think so
so overall this system is great, just as good as thr premium and is 100 pound cheaper.
Is It cheaper? October 9, 2007 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have personally been waiting for ages to see the price drop and now it has.....or so it seems. The new model is only 299.99 but with nothing else yet for 424.99 you get the larger model and up 3 blue-ray movies, 2 games, and an extra sixaxis. Now if im not mistaken that we are still get ripped off. As soon as I saw the cheaper model I got my credit card out but to me im going to keep waiting unitl they offer the same deal for a cheapr price. Besides Metroid Prime 3 for my wii will give me all the pleasure I need for the time being.
still not worth it October 9, 2007 6 out of 28 found this review helpful
ok 299 does sound like a tasty proposition, and i know i will end up with a ps3 sooner or later, but for now my cash is staying in my pocket. Why? well simply because theres no games out for it, i love MGS and Gran Turismo, are they out yet on ps3? no. I think i'll wait till they both are. obivously i'll be able to get a better deal then too, with all these stores doing cheap ps3 bundles.
So for now, 360 it is! and if anyones contemplating whether to get the ps3 or 360 for xmas, go for the 360 elite! 40gb hdd with ps3 is nowhere near enough, and 360 has so many games to choose from! check game review sites for confirmation, happy shopping!!
