 AMAZING CONSOLE, BUT PLEASE JUST WAIT FOR THE 80gig model! August 11, 2008

So as you may have guessed from the title a new ps3 will be released by the end of august...
Cosmeticly the same, the new ps3 will contain a 80gb hard drive, thats DOUBLE the memory of this model, it will only cost 299.
Now let me review the PS3 in general...
I bought my ps3 on march 23rd 2007 (release date :D) back then it was the 60gb model with a beautiful chrome strip where the silver paint is on the 40gig.
Playstation 3 is the multimedia hub of my house and can be of yours too!
It plays games, first of all. Beautiful looking games, that run at 1080p(thats very pretty for those not in the know ;))
I won't bore you with the facts about the two main graphics chips and SEVEN smaller graphical proccessors ;)
As you should know, many games have now been released on the ps3, but which ones are good? here is a list...(multi-plats included before i get flamed by xbox fanboys)
Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto 4
Burnout Paradise
Uncharted; Drakes Fortune
Call Of Duty 4
Warhawk
Siren Blood Curse
Motorstorm
This is only a small portion of the amazing games on the ps3, i just can't be bothered to list more ;)
Another important thing the ps3 has is its Blu-Ray drive, for those who have a HD tv, it means you can watch movies that are in High Definition.
Microsoft has(had) a similar system called HD-DVD, but these disc never sold and have since been discontinued. (woops!)
Online play is also very prominent for Sony now, with the release of the Playstation Network, a similar service to Xbox Live, but it won't set you back 40 a year. It's totally free! (unless you want to buy a game through the PS-Store)
The playstation store was also released on march 23rd and is an online interface that allows you to download free demos and videos, purchase small games (usually 4.99/6.99) and join in on Beta testing.
The store should also be seeing the inclusion of full movie downloads in the next few months.
Two big things hitting the Ps3 soon:
1) LittleBigPlanet- rather hard to describe but i will try, its basically a sort of platformer game that comes with ALL the level design tools with the game (but more user friendly) and allows players t create levels and share them online.
For more information you put "LittleBigPlanet" into youtube! (do not miss out)
2) Playstation Home- A huge 3d online "hang out" space, you create an avatar and you can chat, play minigames, show off trophies earnt in games, create your own appartment (your "Home") and all sorts of other funky things.
You can also attach the Playstation Eye (HD eyetoy) and any bluetooth headset for your online games.
The playstation 3, despite criticism from early xbox buyers that are now slightly jealous, is clearly the best console on the market (not being a "fanboy")
It has so much technology packed inside it, lightyears ahead of its rivals.
And for 250-300 quid, you can't go wrong, if you still haven't made your gaming choice, this is the one to go for.
And I have also heard people saying it is unreliable, these people clearly haven't played a 360, we had one in our house everyime we wanted to play, something would go wrong. You hear of people on their fourth 360!
The ps3 is unbelievably reliable, and within the next year, wll do the same as the ps2 it will be in everybodies homes.
Just make sue you don't miss out on a brilliant console!

Lets cut to the chase for you non-geeks out there!! First some facts:
1. This is the first games console that I've ever owned. I'm 39.
2. I bought it 'cos I wanted a "media-server" for all my music in the living room and a Blu-Ray/Upscaling DVD player.
3. I bought my first game yesterday. Gran Turismo, so I can give you no advice on techie, geekie stuff that most people dont understand.
So
Its a fabulous DVD player.
Its easy to set up.
It makes a great server for your music...listening (and watching) my music will never be the same again.
Its quiet.
It looks fabulous in the right setting.
The game I have is brilliant and I may even buy another one!!
It isnt a PC replacement. You want to access the internet in your living room then get a laptop.
Its excellent value.
Its a Sony!
Go buy. You know you want one but dont tell your children!!
 Second PS3 crashed August 6, 2008

I bought a playstation 3 six months ago which crashed 2 months later (wouldn't read any DVDs or gamediscs anymore; apparently due to a hardware problem), wherefore i gave it back and received a new one which crashed again yesterday (same problem). The problem is widespread (as read in internet-forums). For a console this expensive you would expect a solid hardware. And what's disappointing too is, that internet-support is inexistant (just FAQs which presuppose it's a software-problem, which isn't the case; no E-Mail address as well, so you can call yourself lucky if there's a Sony-shop near to where you live). I was a Playstation 2 fan, but am very disappointed in the PS3. Wait at least one more year before you buy one (almost no interesting games around yet anyway).
80GB PS3 will be available soon - so wait before buying August 6, 2008

The new PS3 80Gb Sony machine is due out in the next month (end August) at the same price as the 40Gb is at present. I would speculate that the 40Gb machine will have a price reduction so wait before buying is my advice.

wow....you dont buy this out of all the game consoles, then theres summet wrong. Blue-ray, hdmi v1.3, really cool even after about 3 hours of playing. Looks great, has a nice finish to it. Yeh there might not be many games, but, tonnes are being released in the near future. you can always use the controller, even when charging and online is all completely free! ive played this console at 1080i and 1080p (not much difference) and it looks amazing, no really, it does! even people with a 360 say the ps3 looks better in hd. Watch blue ray movies or normal ones (hd to). no huge powerpack on the mains lead, unlike the 360's huge block and the nintendo wii's mains lead. You SHOULD get this console if your wanting to invest your money and make it last, and of course the nintendo wii...its great!
