Be careful July 30, 2008 5 out of 13 found this review helpful
Be very careful before deciding which console you would prefer between the 360 and PS3. I've come across a lot of problems with the PS3 that have been very well hidden by the media.
The Bad ------ Generally, the PS3 is plagued with frame-rate problems and screen tearing that the 360 doesn't experience. See Assassin's Creed and The Orange Box. Even the PS3 exclusive Uncharted suffers from horrible screen tearing. This occurs because developers are struggling with the complicated PS3 hardware and disable the VSYNC video option in order to boost poor performance. This results in screen tearing.
Furthermore, the 'trophy' system hasn't been implemented properly yet and few developer's have expressed any desire to use them. Conversely, the 360 achievement system is mandatory and adds extra value to every game you buy for it. The PSN network just isn't as fully featured as Live! but it is free, rather than 5 a month. In short, the only thing the PS3 truly offers over the 360 in terms of games, is MGS4. There's also nothing that exciting on the horizon that you won't be able to get for 360. Furthermore, there are many exclusive 360 titles that you will not see on the PS3. In short, the 360 has a far better games library now, and in the future.
The Good --------
It comes with a load of nice features bundled right in with it. Wireless connectivity (bluetooth and wireless internet), rechargeable controller and a blu-ray player. The blu-ray player is a nice feature, but blu-ray movies are far too expensive to warrant purchasing one now. Plus, with upscaled DVDs, the difference is only noticable for about 20 minutes and then you get used to it. The PS3 is very quiet and reliable. The 360 sounds like an aircraft carrier and is prone to overheating and destroying itself. The menu system for the PS3 is much slicker than the 360 and has some neat, if rather pointless, PSP connectivity.
Summary -------
There's very little reason to purchase a PS3 now, or in a year's time. Most games are proven superior on the 360 and it's cheaper. However, the PS3 will last longer and it is more likely to avoid being replaced in the next 4 years. In short, if you want an excellent gaming experience now, buy a 360. If you love MGS and don't mind getting rubbish ports rather than nothing until the games library (and quality) improves, then get a PS3.

NEXT-GEN CONSOLE!!!! July 23, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great console which satisfys all your needs as you can listen to music, save images, surf the net and play cool next-gen games. I would advise all hardcore gamers like myself to get it! 10,000/10
PS3, the cheaper option....hear me out July 20, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Been debating for a while whether to get the xbox or ps3, obviously the rather astonishing difference in price led me to lean towards the xbox immediately. However after adding up all the extras the pirce difference is minimal between the two, with ultimately the ps3 being cheaper. Things such as the xbox live subscriptions, the wireless bridge and specialist headphones, all these add up to a fairly substantial amount.
To address the issue of this 40gb version not playing ps2 games, i see no problem, as surely if you have ps2 games, you must have an old ps2 to play them on....dont be lazy just plug it back in your t.v.
ive had the ps3 for a while now and have no regrets, particularly enjoying the online cod4 gaming
The best console by far! July 20, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
The PS3 is the best console I have ever played. The build quality is top notch too. The console is easy to pick up and play, and can easily be attached to the net (wired or wireless) for first class online gaming free of charge. The Blu-ray technology allows games to look amazing, esspecially on HD TV's and allows you to watch Blu-ray dvds (the next big format). The only downside is that all the best games are available on the XBOX 360 and Wi, but even so this console will be around for the best part of the next decade.
