Kramer Guitar December 30, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have now had Guitar Hero 3 for five days and I would seriously recommend that people do NOT buy this game. The game itself is fine but the quality of the guitar that Kramer have put their name to is absolutely shocking. Every time you try to get the bonuses the neck WILL disconnect from the guitar body. The pins in the guitar body stick really badly and I have spent the last two days constantly fixing it. At nearly fifty pounds I can't really recommend it. If I were you I would wait for another couple of weeks until the other wireless controllers come out and see what the reviews are like before buying it. In short, great game, really poor quality guitar.

If you like one guitar hero, you like 'em all.
Extreme fun. Difficulty settings for every type of player and a wide variety of songs (although is Sabotage really a rock song?)
One thing I seem to have noticed is the hammer-ons are much easier to pull off this time around even though most hammer-on sections have a strum note where you really wouldn't expect one. Not much hassle, but can really throw you first time round.
Tons of songs, nearly all of which are performed by the original artist and not some dodgy cover (remember GH1 version of Killing in the name of?) The Sex Pistols even re-recorded Anarchy in the U.K. just for GH3!
Unlockable videos are back, not great, but nice to have available. As is the wider selection of guitars and unlockable characters. Although, what happened to Eddie Knox?
Co-op is as good as it ever was. Some songs have an amazing bass so its not always a case of choosing guitar first.
I reviewed the PS2 version as I cant afford a PS3. I brought the solus version at around 25 whereas my mate managed to spend 65 for his PS3 version. For the extra 40 he got smoother graphics and a controller that was actually painful to use and ended up causing swelling on the wrist!
I'm sure its all the same no matter what console you buy it on, but with PS2 you can't by extra songs like you can with the 3rd generation console versions.
As with the other Guitar Hero's, you can spend your days playing and become good enough to impress anyone who watches and let me be the first to say, being videoed whilst playing does wonders for the ego ;) Look out new years eve!
Warning: I have more to my life to Guitar Hero!!!!! December 15, 2007 10 out of 19 found this review helpful
First of all most of the idiots below wine on about the poor quality graphics in this game. Considering the style of this game I can not think of a more irrelevant topic to argue. Seriously, all you need to do in this game is look at 5 different colours coming towards you. If you are really worried about graphics then stop being a tight fisted c*** any by yourself and X Box or a Playstation 3.
Secondly, the debate over whether this package comes with a guitar is really quite stupid. Anyone with a brain would realise that they are also selling the game for PS2 on its own for a lower price and therfore it obviuosly does include a wireless guitar. (the idiot who actually compalined to Amazon about the description of this product needs to get out more and maybe get laid)
Last of all, I am happy to say that this is a good game and is very addictive to play. However, if you find yourself spending too much time playing this game and completing some of the hardest songs on expert then maybe you should think about learning to play a real instrument and getting a life.
I hope this is helpful to everyone. It is a good game but ignore the idiots who have far too much free time and seem to take pride in writing these reviews.
Great Guitar! Good Game! December 15, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
OK, lets start with the best thing about this package - the new wireless guitar. It is slightly heavier and more robust than the Explorer packaged with GH2 and to me it feels more sturdy because of it which is good because you are more likely to get carried away while playing without the restrictions of a lead getting tangled around your ankles. I must add that i cannot comment on the reliability of the guitar as ive only owned the game two days but i am hoping the Explorers unreliable strum bar has been fixed on this new model. Now the game! As i have spent quite alot of this year playing GH2 i jumped straight into playing career on medium (My experience telling me medium is relatively easy and hard is quite a challenge). From the start the difficulty level seems to have jumped. Medium on GH3 is the equivelent of Hard without the orange button on GH2. This itself isn't a bad thing but it's just not as easy to pick up and enjoy straight away as GH2 was. The track list is OK. I would say, in my opinion, 40% of the tracks are great, 40% are fair and the other 20% i have either never heard of or have no interest in playing because they are not my cup of tea. It is fair to say though that there is something for everyone. Now to the reason that i am not giving this 5 stars, the Battles. I just dont see the point in them and dont really enjoy them. You are not concentrating on what you are playing and instead are spending all your time checking how long you have left and trying to put off the other guitarist. In these 'minigames' as long as you hit the battle point notes and get your timing right about when to use them you will win. The main reason that i dont like these battles is the reason i love and play GH2. I play GH2 and now GH3 because i love music! This is not Halo or Half Life where you go from the start to the finish while meeting people on the way whose aim it is to stop you doing just that, this is a game about playing music (and playing it well). The star characters could have been integrated into the game in a much more fun way. My conclusions is this; For the Wireless Guitar and for the improved Co-op play this is a stand out game but for tracks and general enjoyment i feel Guitar Hero 2 is slighty superior.
Guitar Hero III December 11, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
'Extremely addictive' - the opinion of my son. I bought this for his 15th birthday from Amazon - best price I could find on the internet! Son says graphics are much better than 1 & 2 and the wireless guitar is handy if you want to go and get a drink - the game makes you thirsty!
