The world's most successful console. January 6, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Sony have sold over 120,000,000 PS2 consoles and it continues to out-sell the PS3 in all territories across the world. The reason for this is very simple. It has a huge library of games covering all genres. Many of its games offer unique gameplay experiences such as the stealth play in the Metal Gear Solid series. The fact that the console is now so cheap to buy also helps sales.
The PS2 offers something for everyone. Football fans have the Fifa and Pro Evolution Soccer series. Beat 'em up fans have the Tekken and Soul Calibur series. Horror fans have the Silent Hill collection and Resident Evil 4. Driving fans have Gran Turismo 3&4 and the Burnout series. RPG fans have Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Party fans have Guitar Hero and Singstar. FPS fans have Killzone and the Timesplitters series. Adventure fans have Okami or Ico. Action adventure fans have the GTA series. Fantasy action fans have Devil May Cry 1-3, Onimusha 1-3 and God Of War 1&2. All of these titles can now be obtained at budget prices.
The console itself is small enough to fit in small places if space is limited and is light enough to carry around unlike the heavy slab that is the PS3. Oh yes, it will play CD's and DVD's as well. I do own a PS3 but spend loads more time on my PS2. I am currently putting myself through the hell of Titan Mode in God Of War 2, expanding my criminal empire in Scarface and watching monsters the size of mountains fall in Shadow Of The Colossus. Fact is, these are the kind of gaming experiences few consoles can offer. If you operate on a budget or are looking for a first console with hundreds of titles to choose from then the PS2 is probably essential.

Best get the original August 29, 2007 5 out of 16 found this review helpful
Whilst the new model is all slim and portable, there is no denying that the original both looks better and can do more. Not in the software side, but with the hardware. An original PS2 can attach to a hard drive, and even has an official linux kit! Plus, most accessories for the slimline, if not all, are backwards compatible with the original.
Best gaming system around... better than the PS3 August 11, 2007 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I got this for Christmas two years ago, and it was one of the best, and most used Christmas presents I have ever got.It is easy to set up and to use. To set it up, it took about 5 mins. I was playing my new games, following the controls and having fun straight away! This little machine is silent and swift. If you wanted to take it away, on holiday, friends, family, then it would take about 50 seconds of disabling it, and you would be done! 3 wires coming out of the back, one or two out the front, the machine is light and easy to use, carry away and assemble: 3 wires in the back, one goes into the mains, other into TV etc... This is definatly nessisary, why get a PS3 when you can have a easy, solid and unbreakable gem...? I have heard that the PS3 can crash...
A Great Bargain!!! May 10, 2007 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I Have used these consoles for about five years now, and have been through 3 of them in that time, and in my view, it is the best games console ever made. i bought a PS3 on release in the UK. i am disappointed with it. At fist its shiny, looks nice, and the graphics are good. but the games are not good enough and the price is ridiculous! my recommendation is to buy a PS2. use it for another couple of years... its well worth 89.99!!!!!
