Fun but short August 15, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is probly the best game i've played all year it has great graphics, sound and gameplay but it's just too short you could easly complete this game in 6-8 hours or 2 days at the most to complete everything it has to offer. The worst parts though are it's too easy to complete i managed it 3 times without dying once it has quite a few bugs in it and will easly crash the game if your computer doesn't have much space left on it. All i can say is that this a game that will bring you loads of fun and happiness but when you finish it, it will leave you wanting more. I can only hope fable 2 will be better by having more gameplay on it and an online play. i warn you now if you dont by this game before you buy fable 2 you will not like this game. i can only say buy this game if you are goning to buy fable 2 because it will give you the plot of the game but if you have no intention of buying fable 2 save your cash and buy somthing else.
Very Good July 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think this is a very good game but there is something missing that i cant quite put my finger on. The storyline of the game is very good and the gameplay + graphics are also very good but everything is just ok. If you like rpg games i recommend this game.
Happy gaming!
No pride in their work July 3, 2007 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Fable is the typical Microsoft game: A truly good concept, badly thrown together, no attention paid to details. The cut scenes are slow moving and lengthy to the point of being boring. The game has it's share of glitches, non of which Microsoft has bothered to provide patches for. The sub-titles are iffy at best. Microsoft blames this on video cards (yet another way to avoid putting in the work to patch a glitch) yet I fail to see how a video card that puts out perfect graphics in Oblivion can possibly be insufficient to play Fable.
If you have the tenacity and patience to overlook Microsoft studios usual shoddy work, this game can provide hours of entertainment. Fable is, however a typical Microsoft game: What should have been a pinnacle of RPG gaming, doomed to eternal mediocrity by a truly horrid work ethic. It's too bad that Microsoft doesn't take enough pride in their work to finish a job that they start.
Love it or hate it April 2, 2007 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
As you can probably determine from the reviews, it looks as if Fable is a Marmite game, you either love it or hate it.
I didn't have any technical problems with running the software, and found no bugs at all so I can't personally fault it in that department. The graphics are a little cartoony, but it adds much character to a purely black and white world. The combat has an arcade feel to it, which can at times be a little frustrating combined with numerous unncessary keys. For example, why have a key to pull experience orbs in, why not have it done automatically?
I reckon the game takes most around 12-14 hours if you don't go rushing through it, which I hope you won't because surely it would defeat the purpose of buying an RPG. While this may be a bit quick for some, i'd like to remind you that it's possible for Morrowind to be completed in under 10 minutes, but again it defeats the purpose of the RPG concept in my eyes, living another life.
The game has also got re-playability in it's favour, everyone i've known who has owned this had completed this at least twice, some even going up to double digits. I've always liked the uniqueness of Lionhead games from titles such as Black and White and The Movies, but if you want a clear answer to the question "should I buy this game?" I'm afraid I cannot give you one. Perhaps you should instead be asking yourself, do you like Marmite?
A great game September 8, 2006 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
I'm not quite sure what version the last reviewer seemed to be playing, but it definatly wasn't the standard release! Just to clarify, the game never crashed for me once, you CAN save the game whenever you want, the control system is perfectly fine (you DO NOT need to hold a keyboard button and mouse down for spells for example, don't know where he got that from. It's just the one mouse button.) and if you can't use the scroll button without pressing it down then I think you need more practice!
All that aside, Fable is a great little RPG. OK, it may not be very long or have many side-quests, but it's quirky and fun to play - a great way to spend an hour or two a night for a few weeks. The graphics are very sharp but very playful in nature and the sheer size of some of the weapons will make you laugh! Highly recommended if you want an RPG that's not going to take over your life (i.e. any of the Elder Scolls).
