Gets a little repetitive (sorry) February 19, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved the original Zoo Tycoon series and I loved the original Marine Mania add on. Therefore I dutifully went out and bought 2 and all of its add-ons. Unfortunately, I just don't get into this as much as the original. I agree that many of the new features are superior, the range of animals, the views and being able to walk around your own zoo. However, I also find the terrain and building in general to be far more fiddly, my paths are on an angle and I can't seem to get my zoo as 'neat' as it once was! While the blending and smoothing of terrain is great in a cage, it makes no sense when trying to lower a pathway to peak into your aquarium! This makes for very frustrating building when your existing buildings and guests suddenly fall into a crater that I then can't get rid of! Anyhow, Marine Mania (2), it does have a host of new animals and many new ornaments and statues. I was disappointed to find no new kiosks such as the Jungle theme or Tundra kiosks and was sad to see that most of the ornaments only turn up later in the star spectrum, but the ones they have are very good. At first I was very excited by the prospect of training the animals, but after training 4 belugas to do exactly the same thing over and over again (traning takes at least 4 attempts at the same challenge, for each trick, only speeding up each time) I was bored to tears! If you love Zoo Tycoon 2 then you won't find any faults, the main fault that I can find is that is simply isn't as good as the original and I suppose, unfortunately that clouds my judgement.

I have been a huge fan of the Zoo Tycoon series, both original and second generation. whilst some die hards have rated the second generation inferior and less stimulating as it is easier, i believe the expansion packs have all rectified this. Marine Mania is great fun, especially if you train your performing marine life yourself (the hired trainer is very slow!!). You have more marine life to train as well in this series than in the original. The satisfaction of having a top rated Buluga whale show, all done by your own artistic (and co-ordinated) hand is rather rewarding!! There are more objects to place in your zoo, allowing you to create a variety of themed areas. You can, of course, shut your zoo for your own personal access, and spend all day swimming with your various marine life, or just be very cruel, and swim in front of your guests. If you like this series, buy this expansion and create the world's most fabulously stocked zoo!!
Superb Expansion January 2, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Great expansion for a great game, my 8 year old son and I both love to teach the Orca's and Dolphins tricks and put on shows. 20 extra animals here of the marine variety which gives a nice twist to the gameplay of this great game.

Excellent! December 11, 2006 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I loved the Zoo Tycoon games for their brillant informative content and I love animals and always walk round zoos thinking "I can do better than that" or "that cage should be bigger" so its great to design enclosures the way I think they should be!! The dolphin shows are great fun, and you can put all your favourite sea animals in and have your own mini-seaworld!! If you love sea animals, buy this game!
Hint: If you have this game, put the mermaid statue in a tank of water!
so much to do i cant keep up! October 31, 2006 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
i own all the zoo tycoon 2 expansions so far and new nothing about it till i was in a "Game" when i saw it in its shiny case with the orca staring me in the eye i snatched it up falling over with excitment grabbed a 20 note and shoved it into the mans hand. my fingers were shaking as i opened the packaging i love stratagy game and zoo tycoon in particulal. The tutorial is informtive and i reckon it should be looked at first . anyway i found the game superb. i couldnt keep up with it as i placed tank after tank the graphics are great (for quick gaming on high grapics spec you need a prity quick computer)there are (with all expansions) over 80 animals available which means 80 enclosure if you want to put them all in which i think is impposible to fitin even in the largest map. The fact you get to train the animals for shows is also a superb idea also adding to the list of things avilable to do i can honestly find no fault with the game aprt from the fact it may make you spend hours in front of the computer! a great idea definet buy for the zoo enthusiast looking for a new challlenge
