Great November 6, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great, fun, and realistic game to play (not if it's on easy though as people like Hull are top of the league and Man U at the bottom- it's fine on normal).
It's much much better than the Football Manager 09 Demo that I downloaded. There is so much more that you can do but I still find it simpler and more logical to use.
Overall, a great game!
Great improvement November 3, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the third Fifa manager game I have bought and so far it is the best. The graphics have been vastly improved, so has the 3D gameplay and player stats.
The game ran smoothly with nearly all the leagues on my core duo 2 system and I have been addicted since I got it.
I have really been impressed with the media aspect and the 3D match. The graphics are much improved from fm07 and the better decisions you make in your interviews actually do make a difference to your players morale. The way players control the ball and the fluency in the gameplay have also approved to give it a more realistic view. The commentary is slightly better in which they do occasionaly say the players names when they score, or they did for a couple of my players in manchester city anyway. The tactics are a little long winded with all the different tabs but again do make a difference to the way the team play.
So far I have only played up to November and I am really enjoyig it.
I would reccommend this game to football fanatics, you wont be disappointed.
Difficult to play, with lashings of DRM November 3, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Before you start playing, you need to link your purchase with your EA account, which you need to create if you don't already have one. Use on multiple computers is limited, and if EA decide they don't like your account, they can lock you out of online play. Is it worth the hassle and the risk?
I say no. The series is still in its infancy, and it shows. The game is difficult to play. I don't mean that I lose every match, and it's hard to win; I mean that playing it feels like a job. The user interface makes everything hard to do, adding complexity to simple tasks that you need to do often.
The game is still full of poorly implemented campy ideas. I'll be holding off buying the next one until I hear the developers have narrowed their focus to get the core game working and enjoyable before they start adding everything and the kitchen sink, almost literally, on top.
Heavy on graphics, lighter on football management November 2, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Being a major FM series fan I'm sorry to say that this game is an unfortunate backwards step from FM08. There's an obvious attemt at improving graphics, but for whatever reason some useful management futures are removed! For example some of the earlier versions' tactics & lineup screens are now merged into a rather poor tactics page, which makes it seriously time-consuming to create your team's line-up. Also graphichs here are very poor: e.g. no color difference between 1st eleven and subs and the rest.. Yes there are some positives like the greatly improved speed of the daily progression, but on the other hand you need a seriously good hardware if you want to include a minimum of 3 countries' leagues in your game. All in all I'm very disappointed. I think for the time being I will keep playing FM08 until a proper patch for FM09 is released and give it another chance then.
A Beautiful Game November 1, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I too thought I had an issue with the Reg. Code when I installed this game, It turned out that i simply mistook a Z for a 2 ( The font used fooled me). After Installing the game I had to do a bit of jiggery to sort out the gameplay speed, as My PC isn't as high spec as it once was.
Having not played Fifa's football managing series since Total Club 2005, I thought I'd give the game a go after reading up on this year's edition.
So Far, So Good. Being a die hard FM fan, I had a few reservations innitialy, however after around 8 hours of gameplay I'm beginning to think this game may be able to keep my attention beyond the release of Football Manager 2009 (PC). I think the Media aspect to the game is brilliant, by far the best out of any other game of this Genre.
The reason I haven't marked this so highly is that I've found the user interface a little awkward, and I'm only really, now 8 hours in, getting used to it.
