Hard at first but so much easier and a few goes September 7, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was of the majority on this game when i first played it. Could not get to grips with the putting and i was becomming increasingly frustrated. As time progressed and my skills improved i finally got the hang of the putting and swing mechanism. I managed to win my first title about August of year 1 and now loving the game. A nice slow backswing for putting will definatly help those struggling.
Not Much Help Comes With This Game September 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to give this game 5 stars because it is really really good fun. The ideas are fantastic and there is a great variety of courses to play, fun games, outfits to wear and the characters have great ATTITUDE!
However the booklet that comes with it is very limited. When I tried to add another wii remote I found the instructions far from idiot proof. The rest of the information is sketchy. I've turned the commentary off and can't find out how to turn it back on again even though the options menu says it's on. The website, on first sight is not very promising.
Some of the courses are indeed very dark and the sky blindingly bright even though I adjusted my tv screen. I even shaded my eyes as I would if I was there, I couldn't find the hole and putted blindly. But the rest are amazing courses, there are some thrilling places and some very tricky places for playing especially if you turn off all the things that make it easy. You can make it as hard or as easy as you want. Online playing is great fun.
And yes I agree the putting is very hit and miss, but if I was at my local green it would probably be about the same. Great Game! Buy it!
The solution to the putting problem September 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is well designed and very playable. The graphics are greatly improved from 07 and 08. The solution to the putting problem is to press up before going for the shot, in order to use a longer putter i.e use a 10m putter instead of a 5.
Great fun.

Bogey on the greens September 4, 2008 Putting is awful, awful, AWFUL..... Yes you can get used to it and make birdies/eagles, but it is just not intuitive and most importantly doesnt feel like real golf or take advantage of Wii movement controls.
Having bought my Wii a month ago, I was thoroughly delighted by the wonderful atmosphere, look and feel of the golf in Wii Sports. Both myself and 5 year old son could get straight on with playing. Of course the downside was the limited longevity, only 9 holes and the inflexibility of having few clubs in the bag. Thus, I looked forward to TW-09 hoping this would take everything from Wii Sports and simply magnify the depth of the game. As other reviewers point out, the shocking implementation of the putting serious detracts from the enjoyment of what should be a sensational product.
The many game play modes including party features are fantastic, but anything involving putting simply results in frustration.
Get to the green in 2 or 3 shots, then curse as you 3-put from 6 feet, with your final tap-in from a few inches requiring a full swing back on the putter - barking! The day after buying this game I played my first ever real game of golf. Whilst I fully realise that 3 putting from 6 feet is a frequent reality, the speed of the ball is dictacted solely by the amount of swing you put in the putter.
EA Sports motto is "It's in the game", well I suggest they consult with Mr Woods whom I hope will advise them that It's not in his game, since he (his caddy!) only carries one putter in his bag. Come on EA Sports, sort it out.
