5 out of 5 stars Amazing   July 19, 2008
At first I thought this game simply wouldn't work, Civilization is meant to be played on PC's not on a games console. However the easy to navigate controls along with a vast number of players online makes this civilization one of the best games I ever bought for the Xbox 360!

4 out of 5 stars Fun strategy game, but not too challenging   July 15, 2008
I have played a few of these types of games in the past and was after something different to break up the CoD4 marathon sessions.

Basically, you have a choice of 15 or 16 Civilisations to nurture from 4,000 BC to 3,000 AD playing on a world map against 4 other civilisations that are picked at random. The aim is to win in one of 4 ways (Cultural, Domination, Technological or Economic) before anyone else does. You can either concentrate on your own development or go out and be ruthless, taking over each civilisation as quickly as possible.

The game is easy to pick up and offers guidance throughout the easier difficulty settings on how to build up your civilisation, researching technologies, diplomacy, buildings, world wonders etc. While the easier settings are straight forward and you should win with no difficulty whatsoever, its worth playing through to get to grips with your ideal strategy for winning as the harder difficulty settings (King, Emperor and the devilishly hard Deity) require knowledge of the game mechanics.

Having played through as each civilistaion, you can expect to play an entire game between 2-4 hours depending on how proficient you are, but as you have a number of different civilisations to play as with different abilities plus the online mode, the longevity represents good value. Its not perfect by any means as it can feel a little repetitive at times once you know what you're doing, but it is good fun and the simplicity of it all may help to introduce you to other games in the genre.

If you're looking for a break from FPS games or you just want to try something different, its worth giving this a bash. It won't be to everyone's taste, but there are a lot worse games out there.

3 out of 5 stars Fun...but too easy   July 10, 2008

Got the game 12 noon on Saturday, finished it at 4pm. Granted there are a variety of scenarios to chose from and attempt but still 4hrs?? It's good fun but if you want a serious 'God' game buy something else.

I have not got this game but I really want it! It looks soooooo good! I have the demo, but it's rubbish, but the stuff you can do in the game looks so much more in depth in comparison to the demo.

2 out of 5 stars Not worth it   July 2, 2008

I just spent 35 mins a review only to have my computer crash before it was sent.

Needless to say, this is a miss.

The turn based system is far too slow

You cant builds units and builds simultaneously, which means it takes ages to do anything.

Really this has nothing on Command and Conquer, dont waste your money, i'm selling mine
