Only Region 2 playback May 6, 2004 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
Can't complain about the quality but it irks to spend additional money for DVD playback. The final straw is only having Region 2 playback - expanding this will probably be the next money Microsoft want to extract from us!
Good piece of kit March 5, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It does the job, and does it well. The remote sensor is very sensitive, and so I don't always require a line of sight to use the remote, and the DVD playback is excellent; much better than that of the PS2, or even a lot of the cheaper DVD players out there.Only downside to the remote is the fact that it cannot be used to turn the console on and off, unless you buy a third party modification from http://cheaplpc.com/xir/, which does involve opening up your Xbox to add, but requires no soldering at all, and allows you to turn your Xbox on with either the Display or Select buttons, and off with the 0 button. I myself have installed this without a hitch, and although it costs more, I'm lazy, and so it's worth it ;)
X-box DVD controller March 5, 2004 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This little gadget, may look bad, but it enables you to play DVD's on your X-BOX. Not only that but it is the only way to unlock this feature, and what is the playback like? Well as far as I can tell its far better than a sub 150 DVD player, and because of its graphics card its superb for animated movies and special effects loaded movies.
Never worked properly February 24, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this item and have never manged to get the DVD option on the xbox to work properly. Regardless of where I searched for information on how to trouble shoot this feature of the xbox, I ended up drawing a blank. In the end I just bought a DVD player instead and with prices now so low, it hardly seems worth getting this controller
