Burger king in a game that's "underground"? January 5, 2005 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am trying to be very carefull with my words as it's hard to critisize a game that is as widely acclaimed as nfs:Ug2While I really have enjoyed playing with the huge amounts of car parts, vinyls and paints I really don't want to encourage EA to make games the way they are. It's more than cheeky the way they use NOS in a similar way to burnout and the attempt at free roaming. It's all nice this on paper being underground and stuff but It's incredibly mainstream stuff. It's more Chav culture than tuner culture. It has no cops, product placement and a playlist desperately trying to appeal to everyone with snoop dog remixing a song with need for speed obviousely mentioned. It's really annoying, especially with burger king even having an unlockable decal. I also don't apreciate being called "dawg" all the time by certain characters. I'm sounding realy negative here aren't I? I shoudn't be, the choice of cars is fantastic, you start with a focus, early 90's corrola, 106, etc and move onto hardcore jap imports like supras and skylines. The new 350Z is there too. There's also A H2 Hummer and other OTT 4X4's to mod. The racing is a little touch and go as the game engine doesn't have a solid feel and cars feel realy light especially during bumps with other racers round corners. Still the game isn't bad, Out of the need for speeds it's not the worst (It's better than no.2) it's just the equivilant to swearing in a song so more people will buy it. There's also online play so you can show off your all rulling 1.8 corsa and listening to players wtf when you cream their beefed up evos and rx7's. I'd defiantly recommend you to at least try this game and maybe cheat a little as the fun is in making ordinary cars look awesome. I miss the good old days with beautifull supercars, country roads and cops with texan accents yelling "dewnt let mah caytch ya Speeeeedung agayen!"

well what can i say!i loved the first one. then when i heard there was a sequal i was over the moon! especially when i heard you could roam about the city in different parts and find races in the city. when i first got this i thought it was wonderful, not a great deal of cars to choose from but you know you work up to the better ones or so i thought. To be honest the cars didnt get much better at all, i completed the game with the same car i originally bought as the upgrades don't differ per car they make the same amount of difference and all the cars end up being the same speed. The new variety of races is good can't fault it however if you have it on easy it can be a bore!. There are Five stages in all and i thought there would be more to be honest. i finished this game within 1 week and thats not because i am sad and have nothing else to do just because there isnt much too it. To me it feels un-finished!, just when i thought there was more of a storyline it said there are no more races in the world for you to complete and everythings unlocked. However when i went back into it i still hadn't managed to unlock wide body kit! i wouldn't buy this i would just rent bit of waste i am afraid!

AWFUL January 2, 2005 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
not worth it at all!! boring, cars look decent but the scenery is awful. if u want free roaming get gta san andreas and if u want racing get burnout 3 as they are both games of much better standerd. Xbox live on this is probably the best part but still nothing compared to burnout, after playing NFS-UG1 i thought it could only get better this has only moved from gear 1 to gear 1.2

I bought this game the day it came out as I had been waiting for it ever since the first game. Needless to say I wasn't dissapointed. Where else can you modify a Hummer with a full bodykit, neons, a customised trunk of ICE and suicide doors!!!! The gameplay is fluid and gives a real feel for what you are doing. You become immersed and will while the hours away tuning up your car to be bale to reach your next goal.Overall an amazing game which should be in every collection
