I've been resigned for some time toward never having a team game on a console on any sort of scale. I assumed either Xbox live didn't tolerate larger numbers of players or they thought the console demographic only wanted deathmatch, small scale combat. This game is therefore a pleasant surprise. Supporting a full 32 players in a game at once, both online or off with the use of bots. Maps are sizeable and varied, and the space maps are a completely new experience - play with friends and you can have some attack a vessel from the outside in bombers while the others take a gunship onboard and storm the bridge to wreak havoc.
The AI bots are competent, in fact on the harder setting, challenging. One could spawn into a game and simply observe them play it out themselves, taking command points, defending, and piloting vehicles.
The achievement system gives something tangible to work toward in the form of gameplay bonuses - earn enough medals and you can even unlock them permanently to cut a swathe through the opposition. The new galactic conquest gametype is a fun campaign, especially to play through with friends - either against, or with. The Hunt gametype is a little bloodthirsty - all those poor little jawas and ewoks.
The graphics are passable, immersive, perhaps unspectacular in this era of new generation consoles. Considering it is a necessary tradeoff for having so many players and such large maps, they are still very good.
My issue with the game is that as usual, the Live experience suffers. Not only are there few games with larger numbers of players (rather, many with smaller numbers), but when you do find one, they are quite laggy, people will warp around the map and you will die seemingly randomly. Smaller games of course are fine. I still give it a five because Live lag is subjective and it may just be me, and besides which I find playing with the bots and friends perfectly enjoyable.
good game I really enjoyed it.I had the first battlefront and i thought that was a great game. I love these sort of games where you can just run around killing random stuff. I normally dont like star wars games but this sort of style is good.I especially like being able to be a jedi. cause you can just kill basicly anything, but you can also die as one. Also the vadar levels rule cause you get the huge black suit which i must say Ruleeees.
I got this for christmas 2005 And it was one of my faviourte present's but i must say, the flying levels lack a bit on goodness. it's the same type of level every single level, although you can skip the level but that kind of says just how bad they are. I normally always skip them.
the only other bad thing i can think of is that it seems to be a huge game, but as usual it just ends at a point that seems like it shouldnt end but i guess they did pretty well for this kind of game. Battlefront 2 ***** 5 stars good game
